Im sorry if this has been answered already, but is there any indication as to when us V2 owners will be able to do blackbox logging without having to have the laptop in the car?
Ive got hold of 10, 32mb SD cards and Im ready to log. :)

Last I heard was sometime early in 2007.

Paul can you update any ETA on this?

Ive heard standalone operations (logging and tuning) is supposed to be Q1 2007. I hope so, I used it for the first time yesterday and it is so much easier as the cables are longer (no laptop, using a PC in the garage).

As for the cables, if they are too short -- I recon the USB cable is standard, so you can either pick up a longer one with the same plug for the V2 side, or get an extension ...

yep... same for V1. You'd need an A to mini for the V1.

What I want is a RJ45 to Serial so that I can use the same OBDII cable should I ever want to use V1 again...

Ahhhh.... Well, I made one for my V1 so if I wanted to BB log at some point before V2's standalone logging, I only had to plug in the V1 to the V2 cable I leave plugged in...

Well, to tell you the truth, I already have about a 6ft USB extension cable (A->B, fullsize connectors so I just plug FS V2 into it regularly) and dont want to hassle with buying another extension cable.

Yes, that is the plan.

AutoCal will most likely be the first new EFILive product with black box logging capabilities (and standalone reflashing). Once it has been tested and proven in AutoCal then the black box logging software will be transferred to FlashScan V2.

We are implementing it in AutoCal first because it is a simpler hardware platform and therefor simpler to test.

I guess "well before" has the same meaning around here as "soon" (1day to 9months) :muahaha::notacrook: J/K

We've been test driving the BB logging and everything is working as expected. I have every reason to think that it will be ready for testing in the next 2 weeks.

...and the OBDI reader, too? Wait 'till I tell y'all what I am picking up tomorrow...

All I can say is not only has it been garage kept since new, but I don't think it was ever even DRIVEN in the rain!!!

And it really WAS driven by a little old lady who used it to get groceries only...

No :( But the firmware has been coded to allow the ALDL (OBDI) logging to co-exist with the VPW and CAN (OBDII) logging.

Either a 1963 split window or a 1967 427...? :D

But it was only $1900.00

1984 Caprice Classic, 44K miles, 305 4bbl, 4sp auto. garage kept one owner. Has everything except the handling package, Posi, and curb feelers.
Passenger seat probably never been sat on. Still the original patina on the galvanized fuel tank. 4 original Guide headlamps. Dry rot tires, and a bit of rust on the differential case. Other than that and some dings (she had bad eyes) it's almost NOS. A time machine.

Will be getting this up and tuned next week, as the kid has dibs on my Olds.

The BB logging firmware is complete it is being tested in our new AutoCal product now. Once that testing is complete it will be ported back into FlashScan V2. Check out this short video of AutoCal doing its BB logging thing....

http://68.178.219.18/images/AutoCalBBLogging.wmv

FlashScan BB logging is probably a month away from stable public release. But there will most likely be "pre-release" version earlier than that for the very brave to try out.

We have also included the ability to read, clear and log trouble codes and more importantly, freeze frame history data that can be displayed by AutoCal or FlashScan immediately and/or downloaded to your PC back at base.

All PIDs can be "renamed" by you to names that you are comfortable using.

All units can be customized to *any* units that you are comfortable using. You can switch between the standard metric units and the units of *your* choice at any time.

Paul

It looks like it updates quick.

Both units (AutoCal and FlashScan) will update at whatever rate the data is being logged at, i.e. up to 40 frames per second. AutoCal was configured to 5 fps (in the video) so that the data was readable - otherwise the values change too quickly to read. But the value you see on the screen is only a few milliseconds (less than 10ms) behind the actual data in the PCM.

Internally, data logging is always done at full speed: between 10 and 40 fps - depending on PCM type and PID selection.

AWESOME!!

I had to drag my laptop with me on wed/thurs when I towed my boat back from my cabin and it is such a PITA to do, this is gonna rock in comparison! I just need the basics, Coolant temp, trans temp, engine rpm, VSS, and TCC state.

Ill be happy to be a beta tester for the 02-05 P10 PCM if you want anymore! testers!

Blacky

There is no bad news.

The complete BB logging firmware was originally developed for the new Version 8 (V8) software platform. The V8 software uses a very different approach to scanning and tuning than the V7 software. Once the BB l ogging was working under V8, we had to back-port it to V7. That process is almost complete.

I won't try to give an exact date on when it will be ready for testing with the V7 software but there are currently no hold ups and everything so far is working as designed.

Paul
