Can the operating system patches be explained.

MAF Error Patch

Traction Control Patch

Disable Vats patch

In what situations do we need to use them?

The maf error patch expands the maximum limits of airflow - only needed when modifications that give a fair bit more hp occur.

MAF Error patch fixes a table lookup issue in earlier O.S's.
Traction Control Patch fixes the permanent disable of the traction control system when running MAFless.
Disable VATS patch, must be applied because there is no on/off for the VATS like in the LS1 (and most other GM computers).

Ross et al,

Why does the disable VATs patch have to be applied again - is it to provide the additional on/off "buttons" within the tune?

Also, do you know if the MAF table lookup error has any impact on the accuracy of the MAF readings on the LS2s with E40 ECM?

Thanks,

Acer

are these patch's built into the software or is it an additional patch that has to be applied to the file?

Look at the tables B9901, B9902, B9903. Apply those needed, save the file and do a full reflash in order to use those changes.

I beleive you need the commercial scan and tune or workshop to use these patches. For the reason of the full reflash.

So am I correct in believing that applying these patches on a stock mechanicals LS2 isn't a necessity. I did my first E40 last night but didn't want to apply the patches until I checked here first. It doesn't look like I'll need them.

yes you will want to apply the patch and do a FULL reflash or it will not take effect.

Yeah I'm all over how to apply the patches. Just enquiring if there is any benefit for a mech stock combo

No not really, the MAF issue is only a problem once the flow gets to the end of the table which is unlikely on a stock motor.

Thanks ROSS. I'll just leave it the way it is then.

When I search for B9901 etc, the message returned is "B9901 etc not found".

Same for B9902, B9903 link.

This is for an E38 I need to turn VATS off for (etc).

Any feedback appreciated.

Thx.

I think it works like the VE tables in the E38 ECM's you need your V2 pluged in before you open the tune file

Will the fan patch allow lower than 192 setting? I tried it yesterday and the table still only went down to 192?

Yes it will, but there is an issue in the current software that will not show the rescaled fan values onces it's done.

Once one of these patches is applied, disable VATS for example, can it be removed by reverting that value back and re-flashing?
