Heard a nasty rumor EFILive is about to release the necessary files to remap my vortec sometime in the next month. Is this true?

You may have noticed that there is a Vortec (L31) controller listed in the Tune Tool - so I suspect you nasty rumor might be true. No calibrations released as yet.
