Can't get my GTO to read the scan part of EFI live. I am a newbie and don't have a license to reprogram the computer in it yet. Should'nt it read the basics like mph, rpm,tp?

Hawk,

Try these steps in order...

After connecting to vehicle, validate pids.

Then make sure the pids on the PIDs tab are highlighted (not crossed/greyed out).

Then make sure your gauges/charts on the Dash tab are configured for those pids (not crossed out).

Then press the yellow (monitor) or red (record) button on the bottom of the scan tool.

Now look at the Data tab and see if the data values are coming in (e.g. do RPM and MAP make sense); then check these on the Dash tab.

Joe

Thanks man. Might take me a while to understand what everything stands for though.

Don't worry. If you stare at it long enough, it all starts to make sense :D

I see you have a 02 T/A, so you dont need V2 for that car, but for the GTO you do need FlashScan V2 as only it can read the E40 ECM. I dont know if you have V2 or not, but if you are trying to scan your E40 with V1 it isnt going to work.

Yea it all comes up (the dashboard) and works good in the trans am, but i plug it into my gto the dashboard does not work. I don't exactly know what version i have but it's pretty new. About 5-6 months ago. If i do need the V2 how do i get it?

you can use your laptop with both, but only the V2 cable will talk to your goat

Yeah, and FS V2 comes with another couple of VIN licenses, do you could tune your buddies GM ride as well.

Plus, soon V2 will support standalone logging, reading, and flashing of PCM/TCM/ECMs!!! Thats the reason I bought it as I dont have a laptop and do all my tuning on a a desktop, then transfer it to a old desktop in my garage (hassle trying to make sure the prog files and everything are current in there) before I can flash it. Once standalone comes out, it will just be a matter of loading files to the SD card, hooking the V2 up, and clicking whatever buttons to flash that tune!

Im really pumped, and cant wait! I know you guys are working on it Paul and Ross, you do it right the first time so I can wait.
