Black02ss and I where talking about this today and wanted to see if it was something worth pursuing;

I would like to be able to add notes to the parameter "description" box which will stay there as part of the boot up and not something that is part of the tune file. Over the last couple years I have taken a ton of notes and made a "black book" of tuning tips. I would like to be able to add these notes next to there respective parameter or map in the Tune software. The descriptions don't really explain some of the effects of changes and it would be cool to have "tuner" notes available. With the E38/ E67 a whole new thought process of tuning is really going to need some organizing.

Anyone else interested in something like this? If so maybe we can present it to the powers!:master:

Maybe I am able to do this but don't know how!

You mean when you right-click on each pid displayed under the PIDs tab...

I think that's a great idea.

And, also some of the existing descriptions could be improved (some are poor, some are blank).

Paul will read this thread, and he'll reply with the feasability of it.

Joe,

I am talking about either adding a "tuner" tab, or using the existing "note" tab when you are in the Editing software (not FS). Right where it says "description" which talks about the parameter.

Many times I read the "descriptions" and they are a bit misleading or not leading enough! I, as the user, would like to be able to add items for example stuff you posted some time ago on getting the auto's dialed in. Kind of hints and tips.

Somehow they need to be able to have the tips remain after closing out the software so next time you open it up there still there!

I agree! I love the idea, I am like you, I just keep adding notes as I go, and sooner or later I won't be able to find something that I had made a note of...lol.

Oh, in the Tune Tool, yes that would be a great idea too.

It should be setup where after you add your notes you just click on a save tab. Paul/Ross need to figure out how that can be saved to a file in either "my documents" or under "program files" so upgrades are not effected. If you require a complete reload, you would need to save that file on your hardrive to save the data.

I think it's do-able!

At the moment v7 is in it's wind up stage as far as development goes, meaning, new features (not that yours seems to complex) are being pushed aside to be included into version 8.
We will continue to add more PCM types etc into v7 as v8 is being written, so don't worry, v7 is not about to be pushed aside as far as support goes, just no more features to be added.

Cheers,
Ross

Yes, E38 & E67 will be going in to v7, we may add more PCM's in to v7 as we go too. v8 is in development already, time frame......mmmm how long is a piece of string ;) , It's a total rewrite of the software, so it will be many months, best guess I'd say probably Q4 2007, depends how much 'bling' Paul wants to add in to it for it's first release, it might be earlier than that too.

Cheers,
Ross

Sounds good. Just keep this suggestion in mind as I think its a nice "feature" for the hardcore tuner!

Thanks

There is a "User notes" tab page on each calibration where you can store your own notes. These notes are not stored in the *.tun file, they are not stored in th PCM/ECM. They are stored in \My Documents\EFILive\V7\User Configuration\Notes\{calibration name}.txt. Each calibration has a separate notes file. The notes are loaded and displayed whenever you open *any* *.tun or *.bin file.

However, where calibration names are the same between different tuning systems i.e. between Duramax and LS1 for example, you may find an LS1 description appearing in a duramax calibration - just because the names are the same.

Paul
