Newbie to forum and EFILive, looking for info on correcting injector size in 2006 GTO with L92 head/L76 intake swap. I believe stock injectors are 33lb units and all the info I have found states L76 intake delivered with the new 2007 Z06 40 lb injector, can anyone confirm this info?
Also were in the tune software do I change the injector sizing? Is it Injector Flow Base?
Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the forum!

The stock injector for the LS7 are rated at 40 lbs/hr. Not sure of the L76 injectors.

In the LS2 world, Injector Flow Base is the injector flow rate-- table B1215. Keep in mind that these rates for systems with a pressure regulator that is not referenced to manifold pressure. If you change the fuel system and incorporate an aftermarket pressure regulator, there's no need to scale flow rate. Also, you can build a conversion table to display in pounds per hour. Copy the injector flow base table to the clipboard, click on Conversions in the main calibration window, the click "Create New Table" and convert from grams per second to pounds per hour.

Once I create this table, how do I plug in the correct numbers for the Z06 40lb injectors.

Great info guys I thank you for the help.

If you create the table in lbs/hr, convert it to grams per second, then copy with labels and paste with labels into B1215. The values for 40-pound injectors are (in grams/second):
Injector Flow Base (mg/ms)
kPa Value
0 5.040000
5 5.071400
10 5.102600
15 5.133700
20 5.164500
25 5.195200
30 5.225600
35 5.255900
40 5.286100
45 5.316000
50 5.345800
55 5.375400
60 5.404900
65 5.434200
70 5.463300
75 5.492300
80 5.521200

In lbs./hr.

0 40.000000

Thanks, that worked great. The car starts and runs much better. Now when I start fine tuning air fuel do I use another table? Also when correcting for improved air flow do I adjust the VE table or is this done in another table?

Thanks so much for the valuable advice I couldn't do this job without your help.

That's a good line... I wish I would have thought of that earlier. I'd be a hundred-aire by now.

Hi guys, new to the forum.

This topic caught my eye because i'm planning on doing the L92 head/L76 intake swap on an 6.0L, LQ9 (truck version of the LS2 engine). right now i haven't done any mods because i am weary of the tuning and electrical. i downloaded the demo efi live version and i understand some things but when i got further into the program i lost myself. right now i have plans layed out for a 6.0L swap/project but i don't want to proceed unless i know i can do atleast some simple tuning. i've heard that some guys have tuned the stock LQ9 and got almost 50 more hp out of it! has anyone done a tune similar to this one? it would be nice if i could "simulate" this tune on the demo so i have an idea of what to do when the engine is in the truck.

cheers:cheers:

Check out the tutorial section and read the custom os and autotune guides. Thats the easy bit.
Then do a search for RAFPN tuning and idle tuning.
At that point you should have some good strings in your bow.

Hello Sleepy,

The LQ9 is a LS1 based motor with 2003+ 1024kb computer, I think you will find more info and help in the Gen III section.
What year is the truck? I could be wrong.
I got the RoadRunner in mine and it spoils you.

right now i have a '95 sierra! like i said i have plans for the 6.0L swap, still looking around for a good deal on an engine and other parts though. i might even buy a wrecked truck to be a donor. so far it looks like the LQ9's have been around since '99. i think the 99-02's have the "411" pcm. (the actual part number for it i think is: 12200411) i'm not sure what the 03's and on have. Just so that this thread doesn't get side tracked about IF the swap is possible (i've had actualy quite a few people say impossible) here's a link to what this guy did, i'm almost doing the exact same thing. i am going to try get a donor truck that is 99-02 though, with the 03+ stuff it will make the swap a bit more work.

That site is pretty interesting, I just spent the last 30min checking it out. I have wanted to do an engine swap into an old school mid-70s C-body pickup. I have been thinking maybe an LS2 b/c it is easy to tune via EFILive, but the LQ9 has potential as well.

Sleepy,

The LQ9 debuted in 2002 in the Escalade and then in the SS Chevy in 2003 and then in the Denali in 2005. The LQ9 has never been put in a 3/4 ton pickup, plus all LQ9's have Electronic Throttle Control so the motor in the Link that you posted is not a LQ9 and must be a LQ4, the only reason that I point this out is that if it was me doing this swap I would make the decision whether or not I was going to change from cable driven throttle and if you can add a TAC module to the "411" computer you mention to run a ETC, if not than either you need to move to a computer that can or just use cable. Either way these are GEN III motors and you might find more help posting in the GEN III section also.
I would never say a swap is impossible. People also told me that I couldn't put a Quad 4 in a Fiero a month later I was driving it, that was 16 years ago.
Good Luck with your project.
