Australian LS1 Alternators

Has anyone heard of issues with alternators in LS1 Commodores??

Mine is giving up the ghost. I looked into rebuilding it, but the regs are retailing at around $200!:Eyecrazy:

The wreckers claim that the S/H Alternators are hot property and they sell just as soon as they remove them from the vehicle.

Anyone know of cheap exchanges/alternatives?
I need to do something about mine soon.

Try Ingram or Ashdowns for a Reg or exchange unit

Havent heard of Ingram, I'll give Ashdowns a go.
I have tried a few places and have been told you can't get exchange units yet (only what they have said, not what I believe)

New ones are near on $400

They go for about $50 on Ebay motors, but, I have a feeling they will be different to the local ones.
