I just got my nre rr in and it worked the first day. Now I cant get it to update live. The only way I can get it to work is connect to it and click update calibrations. If I click the emulation button the rr will light up like its working but as soon as I try to make a change live it will lock up and say its not connected. I then have to unplug it to get it work.

Maybe it's a com port issue. Have you gone into properties and checked/played with those settings?

Yeah the first time I used the rr, Craig walked me through it on the phone. I havent went back and checked to see what they are now.

I'm having the same problem as you.

I'll be back a little later today and can likely help you all out.

Come up with anything yet?

Nope. I was expecting a response in the thread and then perhaps organising an IM session or something.

I got this from Craig

At times, engine interference from ignition noise can present a problem. Try
shielding the cable/roadrunner area from spark sources and see if that
helps.
I'm going to see if this helps.

What plug wires do you have...?

Plain old stock GM wires.

I found that low ohm spiral wound wires produce pretty much zero noise...
not enough EMI for my inductive clamp to pickup...
not enough signal to trigger my scopemeter.

Are the stock wires spiral wound?

No, the stock wires are not spiral, they are carbon impregnated fiber core.

Examples of spiral wound:
MSD Super Conductor
Taylor Thunder Volt

Ok, my rr is weird. It works fine some days and other it doesnt. It also loses communication here and there. This is my 2nd one, the 1st one worked one day and never worked again. Do they all lose communication sometimes and have to plugged in and unplugged all the time?

No laptop power supply connected to the laptop while connected to RoadRunner right?
