I was tunning a camaro and had the rr installed in the stock pcm location like usual. After about an hour of tuning we pulled over for gas and shut the car off. The car then went dead, no gauges, couldnt get the laptop to even reconize the car. Put the stock pcm back in and it fired right up.

No, Im going to contact him tomorrow. I just posted to see if anyone else has had this problem. This is the 2nd rr I have had, the first one had differnt problems. I really love the rr and use it almost everyday tuning, I just cant keep having them go out all the time. I must add that this isnt a bash towards rr. Craig has top notch customer support and stands behind his products 100%.
Im running the newest update from last week.

I mailed it back to Craig. The first rr the emulation chip went out. I couldnt update it live or do live tuning. I could do everything if the car was running. This rr the actual pcm died I think. I could still connect to it through the usb cable but not through the actual pcm. It won't even register as being connected to a car or bench harness. With the rr in the car it wouldnt even start, put the stock pcm in and car runs fine. Im glad I listened and carried a stock pcm with me just incase.

I had a RR die about 3 weeks ago. I am sitting in the truck getting ready to activate the new one right now.

You guys are making me cringe! My RR is a year old and have had no problems so far but I would be crushed if I had to allocate down time to it. I keep breaking everything else.
:D
Any insight as to surrounding circumstances that you might think the rest of us could avoid or anything? Power, space aliens, illegal aliens etc?

I use mine probly 6 days a week. I have go so spoiled with it, I dont want to even tune without it. I hope the new one when ever gets here lasts.

Well, mine is one of the first revisions so it's pretty old, I had the car not start one morning but the older boards used a backup battery holder that did not hold the battery too well over time according to Craig, he since changed it to a different one.
I don't leave mine in the car all the time because it is often being shipped all over the country as a demo unit, which invokes thoughts of a reminder of the old saying, 'you don't know what you got until it's gone'.
Cheers,
Ross

Yeah Im pretty sure I had that. Check your drivers. Maybe DL the proper ones from moates.net. I used some that came with efilive, which worked but not on my new laptop. You have a choice of COM or USB support, it will work with both, but try the COM ones as that seems to be the recommended.

Drivers where the ones from moates and i am using the com drivers...
PCM has been for a few months inside the car.. no issues with the car running... i thought it was my laptop but the laptop recoginzed the efilive drivers in a heartbeat. Will check and see...
