so i hooked the valet up..well i got a wire going into pin number 56 on the red connector, i just laid the wire out and was going to try it before mounting a switch and everything, so i set it up accordingly to the tutorial, to come on at 25mph and the rpm limit upper to 1200 and lower to 1150 rpm...so i start it up..i go out and ground the wire and rev it up and it does what it should so i unground it and then rev it up and it does the same thing, what have i done wrong?

sounds like you need a momentary switch but i am not sure

My understanding is a toggle. When the switch is not grounded your regular tables are used. When Pin 56 is grounded your alternate tables are used provided they are enabled.

It must be a toggle type, so when the PCM input is grounded the valet is active, it must be held to ground, it's not a momentary thing.
As for your problem, what happens if you shut the car off and restart?
