I'm doing an engine swap in a 98 Sonoma. The new engine doesn't have the egr valve. Can I use EFI to eliminate the egr, would I have to flash a different tune in without the egr or would it just be easier to swap the intake manifold? I hoped I maybe could just read the ecm and turn off the egr and not set a ses light.

If I turn it off will the ecm care if the valve is not physically there? The wiring harness would just be tied up somewhere out of the way.

You can disable its function and any codes related to it. The PCM will not expect it to be there.

MaxOD, did you get it to work? Im looking at doing the same thing, swaping a 2002 motor into a 2000 & the new motor doesnt have the egr at all.
