View Full Version : Question??? IFR B4001

2001 TA with a D1SC 10-11psi. The car runs great as it is but the injector duty cycle is a little too high to be comfortable with the 42lb injectors. Now have some 60lb injectors that we're going to use. Do I adjust the IFR tables to get as close as I think it should be then fine tune the IFR from there? Is there a boost table I don't see somewhere? What other tables should be looked at or adjusted when tuning this thing(if any)? I want to keep the tune it has, just make the injector adjustments with as little issue as possible.

TIA

Assuming both injectors are rated the same, you need to multiply/increase your IFR table by 42.8571%. That's the difference in flow between 42lbers and 60lbers based on the injector.xls worksheet using the following variables:

Injector Rated Fuel Pressure: 40psi
Your Fuel Rail Pressure: 58psi
Injector Rated Flow Rate: 42psi and 60psi

Thanks that was helpful. The original injectors were fords and now they are the edge/msd jammer injectors. I believe they are the same as an EV6 siemens injector. If that is the case, am I going to have to change the injector offsets?

Also is there a fuel table for boost I'm not seeing because that would seem most important to me.

I just want to make this as headache free as possible seeing as how the tune is already there. I know it won't be perfect when it's done but I would like it as close as possible.

Thanks
Kris

It depends on how it's setup and how it's tuned. I'm not too knowledgeable on FI setups. But, if it was done right (which would have required a custom OS and quite a bit of time tuning), all you would need to change is the injector flow rate table and maybe tweak the pulse width settings. However, many tuners still fudge the injector tables on FI setups to get the WBO2 to read a desired AFR without caring about what the PCM is actually commanding to get that AFR. If that's the case, the best you can do is guess-timate a change for the new injectors and go from there. OR, start from scratch (sort of) and retune it.

If you want to send over the tune, I can take a look at it and see what is going on to give you a better idea of what to expect.

I don't know if because the tune wasn't done with my efilive(not sure if it even was done with efilive at all) if I'll have to unlock it or if I even can. Haven't tried yet. I use efilive on my 98, no vin lock easy as can be nitrous car so I'm about as basic as you can be with this program as of right now. But I'm getting better.

That don't mean much....

Not being able to speak is not the same as not speaking. You seem as if you like to talk. I like to let people talk who like to talk. It makes it easier to find out how full of sh!t they are.

That injector work sheet seemed to work well. The original tune was a little off as far as what it should have been but not too far. We should be tuning this beast with the wideband this weekend.

My only issue now is, it seems as if the tip in right off idle is a little sluggish. Is the IFR table what I need to look at because that is the only thing I changed? If not what should it be? Other than that the car runs very well.
Here is what I did if it helps any of you guys.
NEW -- Original
0-8.726563 -- 5.632813

75-9.515625 -- 6.062500
80-9.562500 -- 6.078125

I also get this out of range error.
Out of Range calibration summary: 09:11:24 pm, Monday May 28, 2007

Engine Calibration.Spark.Knock
{B6213} Adaptive Spark Min MAP, was out of range when loaded.
It was set at 105. There are alot of things about the tune that I'm not 100% happy with but that will be changed. I'm guessing this means it won't switch between low and high octane spark tables until its in boost?? Where should it be set at? My stock tune from my 98 was set at 65...

Thanks again guys.
Kris

Anyone got any ideas?:)

For the out of range table or parameter, it's displaying the max allowed value, but its actual value is above that...

to cure this, set it to some in-range value, save and exit, then reopen and set it to the max value, and save.

Now I figured out how that works now I need to figure out what exactly it does lol.
