This set of instructions is for the total novice. If this is not considered appropriate to post, feel free to delete the thread.

inmportant is mispelled.

That looks great. Do you need all of those steps to update the firmware? Status is nice but why? Firmware update is the purpose, not checking status. Also, do the files all default as shown? Like the "..." click for me starts at My Computer and I have to dig down to the file. The demonstration shows a default to the exact location.

Really great animation, that took some time to do.

I have done a search for V2 firmware and I can't find the .exe file.

Does anyone know where it might be hidden?

I have the .52 firmware. My V7 folder holds a firmware file but it is still apparently the original .47 file.

I know .55 exists I just don't know where.

Perry

Edit: Found it. I had done a search for the firmware.exe and stopped when it found the .47 file in the My Documents/EFILive/V7 folder. That was the .47 file. A further search found the .55 file in the Program Files/EFILive/V7 folder.

Does anyone know why we have that duplication on an install?

Elmer, looks good to me, has a "very GM Service Manual" look and feel.

pkincy,

The firmware files should not be under the My Documents tree (they may have been put there by accident);
they should be under the Program Files\EFILive\V7 (you can just cut/paste it to here).

Mr. Tordne,

If you are not going to use the file I offered, could you at least edit the thread you have locked to show the people WHERE the the firmware "exe" file is located? It would also be good to show WHERE the "ffw" file is located. If you agree, show the full path to the file, not a partial path AND not just saying, "locate the file". You must be explicit when writing instructions and not assume the folks know where this stuff is.

Thanks,

Some of us were raised in an anolog world. This stuff is not as intuitive to us - as it is to many of you.
Elmer gets my vote. :D

 It appears that the lad does not see the value in my suggestion. Tis a sad day when the "ute" of the world ignores the counsel and sage advice of the wisened old timers. http://www.ls2.com/forums/images/smilies/tongue.gif
