I can't find anything in that thread in the lounge. I bought a brand new (cheapy) Acer laptop to use soley for tuning. However, it has Vista, and I can't figure out how to install the drivers. XP was cake. I just followed the .pdf file instructions. These instructions don't work for Vista, and I'm not computer literate enough to figure it out on my own.

Can someone walk me through this?

I haven't had any issues with using my V2 on my Vista laptop. I'm using the standard drivers included in 7.4.

same here. Just plugged in the V2, when it asked to drivers I pointed it to the directory where I unzipped the install package.

Well, I'm not having any compatibility issues so far. I loaded 7.4 on just fine. I'm just computer dumb and don't know how to chase down the necessary file for the driver. Vista is confusing the shit out of me so far. I definitely liked XP better. Waaaay more user friendly. So, can someone who understands Vista walk me through this? :master:

Ok, I downloaded the driver zip file off the 'downloads' page. I unzipped them into a temp. folder like the instructions say to do.

step 2.
"Included in the zip file are three installation documents. Follow the instructions in the document that matches your PC's operating system."

I don't see any install documents in the 15 files that were unzipped. What am I missing here?

I think it may be a privileges problem. When you tried to run the FTClean, it came up and said it needed admin privileges. That makes me think that you are trying to install the (unsigned) drivers without admin privileges - that could be causing it to fail.

See this page:
http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/winlogo/drvsign/drvsign_perOS.mspx

Look at the table under the intersection of:
Windows Vista: x86
and
Unsigned

It says cannot be installed by a plain user account, but can be (with warnings) installed by an account with administrator privileges.

EFILive USB drivers are not compatible with Vista 64-bit. EFILive currently only supports Vista 32-bit. If you have Vista 64-bit installed on your PC/laptop you will need to install Vista 32-bit on your 64-bit PC/laptop.

EFILive V8 will support Vista-64 bit.
