Getting the PCM out of a Vet is a real PITA. You have to pull a front tire, remove an inspection panel and remove the PCM. Problem is the PCM is held in by two small screws, one accessible and one not accessible. I spent over an hour trying to loosen the hidden screw with no luck and put the car back together.
I may try it from the top tomorrow. I understand I might have better access with the battery out. Just seems like a lot of work to get to a PCM

Sorry Chalky she ain't coming out that way. Your best bet is to jack up the left front as high as you can, remove the back side of the fender liner, undo the connectors, take out the two 7mm bolts and drop the PCM. To make it easier to get the bracket holding the PCM reinstalled, slot the rearward bolt hole so you can start the bolt ahead of time and slide the bracket in.
Good luck,
AL

Oh my, I had no idea GM could hide them so well. Makes me thankful I can swap mine in-out in under 2mins.
Cheers,

The E40's are even easier in the Holdens. They are in plain sight in the engine bay with about 1ft clearance.
Suffice to say I dont offer my road runner to guys with corvette's to play with

Can you use the usb cable as well?
I tried the USB cable before quitting for the day. Replacement bracket is due in tomorrow AM. Once I have the bracket mounted, I'll try it again.
I re-installed the USB drivers today and also tried to follow Chad's tutorial.
Something is going on with Craig Moates site. Can't even contact him or log on to his website. :bash: :bash:

OK. Got it in after semi removing fender on Vet.
Now, the fun part; How do Is et this thing up using BT Dongle I bought from CHad? I cannot access Moates's website and his support email address is not working either. (Not always a good sign)
How do I setup it, what steps do I take to activate? Chad's tutorial does not apply to my system as when I try to config the com port, I have no options for a comm port.
Cannot even find my license.
Still for sale based on my experience to date. Also broke mounting bracket for PCM that bolts to the fender.
Try here http://www.moates.net/roadrunner/bluetooth.htm for info
and here http://www.moates.net/roadrunner/
No problesm here with craigs site , fisrt port of call is to give the guy who sold it to you a ring and get the basics setup

DEcided not to wait. Currently under fender of car trying to get efi to recognize RR. Whether using Dongle or USB cable, all I get when I try to ac tivate RR is "No RR USB devices can be found.
So far, my requests from Craig Moates have gotten me a link to EFILive Tutorials. Not what I had in mind.

Well that is the first starting point.
The best way to set it up is to talk to the dealer who sold it to you and he can walk you through the steps.
USB is normally the easiest to get started , make sure the key is on , plug the usb cable in and it should ask for drivers for the USB , install these from craigs site.
Set the properties in edit/properties/roadrunner to native usb for the usb or virtual com port for the wireless dongle.
then it should find the RR , at that point if you dont have a licence it will tell you so but at least it will connect.

Delco:
Many thanks for the links. I found my license but did not know anything about entering license info to activate RR in EFILive.
Not sure if this will solve my problem but I beleive so. Links are a big help.
If you lived closer, I'd buy you a cold beverage or two of your choice!
I honestly do not know how I missed this info. I was just aware of the links for the USB drivers and the CDM setup files.

Party was premature. EFI/RR still will not recognize USB.
"No RR USB device can be found". Doesn't seem to work with USB cable or Dongle.
