View Full Version : Evaporative purge system not ready

PewterC5

All,

The evaporative purge system SRT for my 2000 vette is showing as not ready even though I have zero DTC's (other than some related to the key fob). I need to get it inspected but this is causing the EPA readiness to also be set to not ready (I think). Anyone seen this before? I haven't had time to debug the solenoid etc but I figure'd I'd ask since there aren't any DTC's.

TIA,

Richard

Are you running in open loop when you see it not ready? I believe the car needs to be in closed loop before the system will work.

Its in closed loop unfortunately.

The system has not run the DTC's for the evap system just yet. To be ready check out these conditions. This is for code P0440.
Al

• The ignition voltage is between 10 volts and 18 volts.

• The barometric pressure is greater than 73 kPa (10.5 psi).

• The fuel level is between 12.5 percent and 87.5 percent of full capacity.

• The engine coolant temperature is between 4°C (39°F) and 30°C (86°F).

• The intake air temperature is between 4°C (39°F) and 30°C (86°F).

I've only ever seen it not function when in Open Loop, however, we added a calibration to allow it to work in Open Loop too, or else it clogs up.

Cheers,
Ross

Do you have a {Bxxxx} for this?

Still haven't figured it out but I WAS able to get it inspected anyhow.

See this is a old thread , I have ran into the same darn SRT code , did anyone ever figure out how to reset this SRT code ?
See it can be turned to "not reported" , but don't know if it will pass with it in that state .

Thanks in advance

To get it to come ready, you have to set all of its codes to "Not Reported" in C6001 and to "MIL" in C6002.

Ops , forgot to say it was on the 05 truck PCM , seems some of the codes are expanded upon in the 05 PCMs .
So far this has not worked still trips SRT , evaporative purge system "not ready" state .
Thanks joecar

Oh, 05... I don't have any info after 03.

Chevy366

It does work for the O2s , but that darn EVAP stuff is a PITA .
Can't see what is keeping the EVAP on I turned everything I saw related to it to "not reported" or "no mil" .

joecar
December 7th, 2008, 04:45 PM
Don't set it to "No MIL".

Chevy366
December 8th, 2008, 06:57 AM
Hmmm , thanks joecar , tried that and still the EVAP shows "not ready" .
GM's drive cycle , no way a normal person would ever achieve its parameters , just wonder if this has been there for the life of the truck ?

Thanks for digging this thread up. I actually have the same issue. Waited until the last minute to take the emissions test, and the evap solenoid fried, and they crushed the car I was going to get parts off of (Of course without telling me before they did, so I wasted a 2 hour drive getting parts).

Small update and to get the post of the number 13 , after a lot or research , I found that in fact the EVAP can not be disabled in the C6001 or C6002 parameters , it would be nice if it could be .
If only a .cax file could be made to do it .
Did find out in Texas , one "not ready" SRT state is passable .

Thanks for the update. I still ran into the same issue. I set p0455 to "Not Reported" in C0061, and still got a CEL :( Guess I will just take the flashscan with me and reset it while I am waiting in line. It still reported "Ready" for the evap test though.

Anyone know if going to COS5 will help?

Chevy366
December 16th, 2008, 05:01 AM
I am not a developer here but , from what I have seen the SRT is not affected by Custom OS features (well not completely true , you have to set the Evap to run in OL mode , which was added for OLSD or OLMAF mode) , so it will still need to run the test .

Ok, I'll keep pestering them to update the LS1 cal file :D

I've got what I think are all the right enablers and every time I come in to have them check, those three keep coming up "Incomplete". All time's I've driven over 50miles prior to checking and the last two had 100miles logged prior to getting checked.

All the sensors are in place except for the MAF & 02's after the cats, which have the sims. Am I missing something?

I've seen the other "Emissions" posts and similar to this one:

http://forum.efilive.com/showthread.php?5321-Evaporative-purge-system-not-ready&highlight=SRT

Since I actually took the time to put mine back, mine are all set to Trip, Emissions Related with MIL. Does it need to to be set to Not Reported on C6001? I'll go through the actual drive cycle process and see how it goes....

FYI, After blowing another tank of gas without getting SRT ready, I changed relative enablers to Not Reported and that did the trick!! It is mandatory if you want to save gas money..

Thanks Joe

Just in case someone else runs into the same situation..

to get the O2 sensors "ready", in addition, I had to set the following to "Not Reported" as well:
P0134, P0140, P0156, P0160

And.... for OFF ROAD USE ONLY, of course.

This is for offroad non-smog usage only.

Joecar will probably provide the best answer. Does your scan tool say that you have a check engine light, or do you have a check engine light on? In the scan program, when you connect to the computer the first thing that runs is the status of the DTC's. Click on SRT tab aand it will tell you which monitor has not been set to ready. It will also tell yo if you have a MIL light or code set. If there is a code set, look on the V2 without the V2 connected connected to the computer and it will tell you what code has been set. Just remember, if you clear the code with the scanner (V2), or change the program with the tune software, all of the readiness status indicators will again say not ready.

No cel but it's showing C0265 under srt, it's showing heated catalyst and egr system not supported in the srt tab so that means not ready right?

way2much_01
September 10th, 2012, 11:34 AM
My system showed a red x in front of the srt systems that were not ready. The systems that are not supported show not supported. I am resonably sure that your vehicle does not have a heated catalyst or egr system. I am wondering if you might have used the off road tune from above for the 2007 Z06 or the off road tune for the 2002 vette that were previously shown and might have used the wrong dtc's for your vehicle. Best wait on joecar if any of the above applies.

Nope didn't touch anything in the tune

In scantool, goto the OBD II tab, goto the SRT subtab, and there you will see all 11 monitors...

Not Supported = monitors not supported by the PCM (i.e. PCM's vehicle came without that equipment);

Not Ready = monitors that have not yet run;

Ready = monitors that have run (they may have passed or failed);

each monitor requires a set of DTC's to be tested for, those DTC's are listed in the Service Manual and are specific to year/model/vehicle.

C0265 would be shown under the DTC subtab...

C0265 is a Chassis/BCM code... that should not prevent you from passing the emissions test.

If your vehicle is prior to 2000, then you are allowed to have upto two Not-Ready monitors; if 2000 or later then only one is allowed.

Not-Supported monitors are not tested because the vehicle does not have the emissions equipment for those monitors.

Or is the Service Vehicle light on (C0265)...?

There is a big difference and the smog technician should know the difference.

For example, sometimes if you forget to turn off traction control on a Camaro/Firebird/Corvette, during the roller test the ABS will throw some DTC's (because the front wheels are stationary and the rear wheels are driving at 30 mph...) this causes the SVS light to turn on... if the tech mentions this just remind him that it is the ABS and not the engine that threw the DTC (Service Vehicle vs Check Engine).

I have a cos5 tune would that have anything to do with it?Your COS5 tune is based on 12212156...

it should still run all the monitors (unless you disabled DTC's).

You could try full flashing back to your base OS 12212156 and see what happens.

...

I looked up your vehicle 2002 Sierra/Silverado 4.8/5.3/6.0...

so I don't really know why your PCM reports EGR as not supported (COS5 should report it the same as 12212156).

:)

C0265 is an ABS code, so it does not effect the smog test.

Sorry about the post it's fixed, the truck is the same from when I got it and it had to pass smog before we transferred so the only thing I can think of is the custom tune

joecar

No worries... if the truck is physically unmodified, then you should be able to pass on the stock tune.
