View Full Version : Should I worry about weather during AutoVE tuning?

Hi, go easy on the newbie here :D but I have a question about AutoVE and SD tuning - how important a factor are atmospheric conditions when doing the AutoVE process? If the weather is hot & humid (like now, summertime in TX) then will the resulting AutoVE tune favor those conditions and the engine run poorly when winter returns and it's cold & dry outside? Am I going to have to do AutoVE several times a year as just a matter of "maintenance"?

TIA -
Mr. P. :)

Typically, the warmer weather will promote warmer IAT/ECT operating temperatures. Then when the weather cools off and operating temps go down, the tune will fatten up a little. A custom operating system is available with a compensating factor to account for this (COS5).

One thing to help the tuning process though is...try to do it in consistent conditions. Pick a certain time of the day to log when the weather is consistent (i.e. afternoons on sunny days). That will help eliminate some of the variances.
