I just purchased a new laptop and I am now having problems with the tuning software. I can scan and the scan tool works great, but I cannot get the tuning side to work. When I try to read the PCM on my truck it only reads about 200k of the file and then stops working. I have tried doing it in low speed and it still does not work. when it stops working it just shows this on the screen over and over and i have to manually stop the read

12:32:15.800: Current protocol set to: "SAE J1850 VPW"

I have tried it on both my escalade as well as an H2 and they both have the same problems. I no longer have the old laptop that i used to use so I cannot use it anymore, but it did work on it with no problems.

Anyone have any ideas????????

thanks

Try using a different USB port on your laptop.

Failing that, try using a self powered USB hub. Connect the hub to your laptop and then connect FlashScan to the hub.

Some USB ports are not as "good" as others at filtering/ignoring electrical noise on the USB lines. The hub option usually solves that problem.

The USB connection in FlashScan V2 has been redesigned (from what was in V1) to include extra components that help suppress noise from external equipment so that the "not so good" USB ports on some PC's laptops do not fail.

So as a last resort, upgrading to FlashScan V2 may also solve the problem.
