B6001 "Spark Dwell Time" has 2 links: GMRPM AND SAEVOLTS. I don't see an SAE VOLTS pid. I'd like to moniter coil pack voltage. Any ideas?

That might need to be gm.volts instead of sae.volts. If it needs to be changed, you can do that in the Program Files install folder of EFILive in the cal_link.txt file (IIRC). DO NOT ALTER UNTIL IT'S CONFIRMED THOUGH.

Just be aware that GM.VOLTS and SAE.VOLTS (whichever one exists) is battery voltage, and not coil pack voltage.

I don't want battery volts. You're probably right that they both are battery volts, but I thought I'd ask. I noticed that the Spark Dwell Time for the LS7 B5120(LS7file) is much lower than for the LS1 B6001(LS1)file . I'm using the LS7 table since I don't want to burn up the LS7 coil packs. But, am I getting enough spark doing that? I don't see any tables in the LS7 file that would boost volts from B5120(LS7file), so I assumed the LS7 packs are putting out more than the LS1's. I guess I could see if I can compare output specs, if I can find them.

We might be getting someplace.

Interesting... I would love to have a 4 channel oscilloscope just for that purpose :cheers:

That would be nice, at least on this question, for me.
It's beginning to sound like the LS7 numbers are the ones to use. I have been and don't notice any ill affects either by logged numbers or observed. I'll try raising them when I dyno, but I don't expect any improvement since I should have had some missing. I wonder if the plugs would show anything?

If the plugs are firing with a weak spark, they will get fouled up over a period of time.

Can you monitor the temperature of the coil packs (...using a laser pointer thermometer...) after a WOT blast...?

joecar,
Both have to be changed. It's GM.VOLTS and SAE.RPM.
The link text needs to change as well as the calculated link.
It's usefull to be able to compare dwell times.
Thanks
Joe

Ok, I'll let Paul know that the links for B6001 need to be changed as follows:

SAE.VOLTS -> GM.VOLTS
GM.RPM -> SAE.RPM

It has been updated in the latest release. Thanks for finding it, Paul.
