what do you need to log besides hp pid....vss....rpm? I log those and enter my weight but never get anything other than zero

You have to enter vehicle mass in the place where you enter your VIN/OS.

i did. I am guessing you cant do it to an old logged file where the pid wasnt present originally? I need to go try it on a fresh log with it enabled from the beginning

I need to go try it on a fresh log with it enabled from the beginningYes you can... if it's a calc pid, you can select it (from PIDs F8 tab) and if it's valid (i.e. all it's dependent pids are selected and valid), then you can display its value, and save the log file.
