View Full Version : Flashed COS3 now get PCM unlicenced message !

Just flashed my spare PCM with COS3 no problems,
went to flsh in a calibration and get a message pop up saying PCM is unlicence:bash: what goes on here ! not gonna waist another vin on an already licenced pcm- HELP !!

So you used a license for the initial flash to the COS3 and now when you try to do the cal flash it wants you to license it again?

Hi John,

What version and build of the tune tool are you running? To check, load the tune tool, go to the Help Menu and select the "About" item.

It's 7.3.3 build 533

Flashed this PCM heaps of times , been licenced for a couple of years.
It allowed me to flash a custom operating system in ok
now tells me PCM is unlicenced when i try to flash a claibration in.

Had some similar issues here with flashing so I dont think you are on your own.
Are you running the latest software and firmware?
In one instance a customer had this issue and we went to reflash anyway and it flashed, gave the pcm a new ID and didnt take another license so we were ok.

Hi John,

An old version of EFILive (could well be build 533) had a bug that wiped the controller's serial number (among other things) during a full flash (cal only flashses were not affected).

Well it wasn't so much of a bug as the software had been modified to simulate the bug in GM's SPS software that really does wipe the serial number. Unfortunately the "simulation" code was not removed before that particular software was released - my (very) bad

We will replace your VIN license so you are not disadvantaged by that problem.

If you use the latest software here: http://www.efilive.com/download.aspx#download1 and perform a full reflash a new serial number will be installed. You will then need to re-license the PCM. (As I indicated we will replace the PCM license for you, free of charge).

Please send me your FlashScan serial number and Authentication code.

Laptop has just died, when I get it up and running I'll download the latest software and be in touch with details.
