I am purchasing EFI Live to tweak my 2006 Duramax diesel. I have a project I am going to work on this winter that involves a 6.0 chevy gas motor with a Whipple Supercharger going into a boat. Is it possible for me to use EFI Live to modify the stock ECM to work in a boat (i.e. get rid of shift programming, set correct boost timing, turn off certain sensors that are not going to exist)?

Also, my 2006 diesel is an LLY Duramax, they also had a LBZ engine in 2006 with more tq and hp, the only difference between the two engines was the tuning. Is it possible with EFI Live to extract the tune out of a LBZ truck and put it in mine? Any help would be appreciated.

what ECM are you going to use to contol the 6.0?

On your duramax. I would make your own tune, you can get alot more out of it that way.

Not sure what ECM I would use for the project, I would purchase whichever ECM would be needed do the job if EFI Live would be able to successfully interface and provide the tuning solution.

a 99+ would work just fine for your project. You can buy them at pretty cheap anywhere now. We even have them for 75 shipped.

You can copy most of the tables from a 2006 LBZ to an 2006 LLY calibration. But don't just go loading an entire LBZ tune.

Gotchya, thanks for the information. I can't wait to get the unit and get rolling. One last question, if I program a VIN, can I log the stock tune back into that vehicle and get that VIN credit back or do I need to purchase more VIN codes from EFI Live reguardless of how many vehicles I set back to stock?

You would need to buy a license for each vehicle. even if you pull out the modded tune.
