View Full Version : Reflashing the T42 Operating System

I have a brand new 2005 Corvette TCM and had assumed I could put any TCM calibration into it. What is preventing EFILive from updating the operating system and doing a full reflash? Are there different hardware versions of the T42? Can a Tech2 put a new operating system and calibration into the T42?

TechII can certainly program a new OS in to the T42.
We have not implemented T42 Full flashing, in fact, you are the first person to ask about it.

BTW, I looked at your website, in your comparison table (http://www.eficonnection.com/eficonnection/12200411.aspx) between the various computers you show the 700R4 not supported on the LS1 PCM.
I might be wrong but I have a feeling there might have been an application that did not use a 4LxxE auto very early on? It may have been a non electronic auto.

Cheers,
Ross

The 700R4 was never behind an LS1 in a production vehicle. The last year for it was 1993. That was only in the F, B, Y and K cars. The trucks all received the 4L60-E in 1993. Back then there were just LT1 and TBI engines.

Thanks, I'll stop dreaming then.

GM has different part numbers for the GTO, Corvette, etc. TCM. So I wasn't sure if there really is different hardware involved. I was unable to retrieve the calibration out of the new 2005 TCM using the latest (or previous) version of EFILive, so I think the TCM must be reflashed to begin with.

Hey Ross.... I've asked before...In fact, today I tried to take one of my spare T42's and prepare it with a different O/S to mail out and it still won't let me....

Will there be a time when I can do a FULL WRITE ion a T42???

Yes, we can use the tech II.... But, it's a real sucky pain in the ass....

Any thoughts?

+1. Ross informed me that he was close, just needed to work through a few things. Apparently they are a bit more finnicky and when one fails it fails bad.

T42 full reflash has been working in development since 2007, problem is getting it in the software. The T43 full reflash is the problem one, I now have a T43 door stop thanks to a brain fade on my part, and it isn't even a good looking door stop!
At some stage soon myself and Paul will be sitting in the same dark development room, it will happen when that happens.

Cheers,
Ross
