View Full Version : Safe Mode?

Finally got to the track last night. The truck fell on it's face right after launch. It shifted in the 4000rpm range when it should shift at 6700. It was shifting at 6900 on the street with 6700 in the shift tables.
I flashed another tune in it (370 motor tune) and it ran better on the 1st pass (motor 2) but fell on it's face again on the 2nd pass (motor 3) with the same tune.
On the way home I hit it from a roll in 1st. It broke the drag radials loose and got loose again when it hit second, right back to normal.
Launching from a dead stop is sending it into some kind of safe mode.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
John

Also I can't figure out how to put the tune on here. It seems to be too big.

Finally got the tune on here and here are the logs. Each log is 1 pass at the track and the run is toward the end.

absolutely zero clue about your auto set up so this may be way off but does torque management come into play at all on your setup?

All torque reduction is set to 0. I've been racing the truck for several years and just put a bigger motor in it. I've been tweaking the same tune to suit the new set up.

Maybe check out your abuse management and trans abuse mode torque reduction settings (oops just saw you zero'd the trans abuse, i disable it but same same i spose)

Good luck mate,

Do this first: enter in-range values for the out-of-range tables (for pressure tables, enter 95, save file, exit tunetool, start tunetool, enter 96, save, exit).

Set D0961, D0962 to 100%.

I can't see anything else, but I'll take another look later today.

I fixed the out of range values.
Thanks to all for the help.

What I forgot to mention is I started with a 5.3 tune and now I'm working on a 6.0.
Here's the set up
370 CI
stage 3 LS6 heads
G5X3 cam
11.2/1 CR

I went to stock LQ9 timing table and made some changes for idle and WOT. Changed cylinder volume to 747 and increased C6101 by 50%.
I'm hoping this will help.

Are you seeing knock retard, and/or can you hear knock...?

0 knock retard. A/F is good and I only run 93 octane fuel. On the street it pulls up to 28.5* of timing with 0 KR.

Here's the logs. Each log is 1 pass and the run is at the end.

Found the problem and it wasn't a tunning issue. It was the gear selector switch that bolts on the side of the trans. It was a new unit from O'riellys. Never got it to line up right, it was lazy in N and D. Didn't cause any problems untill I launched from a dead stop. Put a new 1 on from GM and it's all good.
