It depends on the weather and what your fans are set at.

I see 180~190*F (A/C off) while cruising around. But, we don't usually see more than 85~90*F days here in MI and my fan on/off temps have been dropped 40*F from stock.

The fact that you have a 160*F stat only means your stat opens at 160*F. It's not going to make the engine run cooler. It will allow it to run cooler under the appropriate conditions. But, it won't make it...

While observing ECT, use bidirectional mode in the scantool to turn fans on at high speed...

if after a few minutes ECT starts to drop closer to thermostat temp (+5~10 degrees), then everything's fine, you just need to adjust your fan temps...

otherwise if ECT doesn't drop you have an airflow and/or cooling system problem.

I have not scanned it with the snap on yet but it always showed avg temp to be around 187 in my car. this is the first time I ever scanned the t/a with the efi live .

fan temps should not play to much of a part when cruising on the interstate at 70 mph . the airflow should be sufficient with the cruising speed. it still held 214 on a 5 mile 70 mph trip.

when I get to my laptop I am going to try to post what I data logged to let you all look at it and see what I was reading.

(I assume you weren't pulling a big load up a steep hill for 5 miles... ;) )

you might check under the nose to make sure you haven't picked up a walmart bag or other debris that would block air flow.

FWIW, my bird run's 190-192 *F AC on or off

here is the file. let me know what all you see going on. I posted this tune before and was told to start over as it has a lot to be desired but I dont have a wide band yet so it has to wait till i get one. I drove slow all the way up to the 1650 to 1750 frame where i made a little hit.

I do have a whisper ram air that goes down to the bottom which does block off some of the radiator but it has never ran this hot. I will check soon for a bag.

I am back on the boat now untill next tuesday.
