I heard something today that I figured I'd ask about some clarification on. I heard that Steve Cole of TTS Powersystems threatened to sue EFI Live. Ross or Paul, could you give a little info on the validity of this, and maybe clarify what he would want to sue you for?

I was just kind of curious.

There's a law against threatening to sue isn't there - called barratry.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barratry

Barratry, in criminal and civil law, is the act or practice of bringing repeated legal actions solely to harass. Usually, the actions brought lack merit. This action has been declared a crime (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crime) in some jurisdictions. For example, in the U.S. states (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/U.S._states) of California (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/California) and Pennsylvania (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pennsylvania) and Virginia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Virginia), barratry is a misdemeanor (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Misdemeanor).

Hmmm... so it's a misdemenor in CA... funny, this is where it's going on the most... :bash:

And it also refers to graft and corruption within government (which also seems to be going on all the time):
Barratry, when used elsewhere, may refer to the buying and selling of positions (which are expected to bring greater income in time) within civil authority (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Civil_authority).

So am I to understand that Mr. Cole is guilty of said misdemeanor?
