When I go to scan and click on the green button then the efi live dash looks like nothing is happening, there are a yellow and red light at the bottom of the screen but all of the other buttons are gray. When I click on the yellow or red button it goes into a pause and the program stops responding and wants to send an eror report? I can read PCM's, but just not scan a running engine. any ideas???:cheers:

I just updated to the V2 and am excited to play. but. When I go to scan tool and try to connect to the PCM with the green button, the only thing that happens is a yellow and red light turn on at the bottom of the sreen. All other buttons are gray. If I go to the tunning tool, it all seems to work the way it should. any ideas

You need to push the yellow button to scan the data or the red button to scan & log the data.

well when I do, that is when it locks up, it will say that it is paused and then it will not respond any longer:notacrook:

V8VegaMan, welcome to the forum... :cheers:

Which version of EFILive software are you using (in scantool, go Help->About)...?

I'm having the same exact issue.Looks as if communication with the PCM is fine, but no response with the scanner. Then when you click on the yellow button, it says 'not responding' up top, and gives an error dialog box. Everything else seems to work just fine.
Version V7.4.2 if that helps......

Hey there, What I ended up doing was removing the drivers and reinstalling them using a different USB port. All seems to be working well. I hope this helps

I'm having the exact same issue with two different computers. Already tried reinstalling the software with no luck. :mad:

Had some time today to mess with this problem I'm having. Tried reloading the software. Uninstalled it per EFIlive directions. Uninstalled the drivers. Reinstalled.
The scanner will communicate with the car. Scans for modules, and detects PCM, SRS module, etc. Then says ready. When I open the dash, all the gauges have lines thru the descriptions. I go and click on the yellow button on the bottom, and it locks up. Gives me a 'not responding' error code at the top of the page.
On another note, tried to read a computer previously tuned with HPtuners. It came back as locked. I know its not, as I'm the one that tuned it. Is this common? Will it not read something tuned by HPT?
This is pretty discouraging. I've owned it now for a few weeks and have used it once to perform a specific task which I was told it would do. It didnt, so at this point to me its worthless.

You and me both. I've had the same problem with two computers. One of them has had the software reloaded. I haven't had the time to reload the second. THis is really starting to piss me off. So far I've spent $700 and used it only to turn off a few DTC codes. If the scan feature won't work. this sofware is really worthless.

Ok, I pm'd tech support.

In the meantime:
- are you saying that scantool can collect OBD-II data but can't log...?
- what Edit->Properties->Logging->Scan Mode say...?
- which hardware: FlashScan V1 or V2...?
- what vehicles...?

The gauge/chart PID's that are not selected will have lines thru them;
on the PIDs (F8) tab, select the PID's you want to see, and deselect the ones you don't want;
the Data (F9) tab shows all the PID's you have selected for logging.

So, when you read an unlocked HPT tuned PCM, EFILive says it's locked;

there's a few threads on locked PCM's:

OK. First let me say, I'm brand new to EFIlive, but been tuning for years.
When the scanner goes through the module check, it detects the PCM, and the SRS, blah, blah, blah, so I know its got communication.
Dont know about selecting pids, I thought it was configured to run. My bad. I'll check the help files.
As for reading this one car. I tuned it with HPtuners. Its not locked. When I go to read it with EFilive, it comes back as locked.
I'll go and try it again, this time selecting the pids want, and we'll see how that goes.
i'll post back later.
Thanks Joecar....

Yes, I've seen you in other spaces; welcome to this forum... :cheers:

It seems it's got generic comms, but as you said, no logging;
it should not say "not responding", that would be a problem;
there's many pids, you select the ones you want to look at,
but regardless of this, logging has to be able to respond.

From scantool, check what Edit->Properties->Logging->Scan Mode says.

I agree, non-locked tune should have been seen as not locked.

Cheers.

Also, Ive found I have to validate the PIDs before I can scan/log. Open Scan Tool, connect FS to vehicle and connect in software. Then go Info->Validate PIDs and let it do its thing. Then you can select PIDs and be able to scan. To begin logging click the yellow button at the bottom, and the red one to record.

Seen you around too, joecar.
Ok, I got the scanner working. Went in and selected pids, got a scanner now.
I'll try the suggestions in the links you provided, to try and remedy the 'locked' tune. I'll probably try that Monday.
Thanks again for the help. Looking forward to learning the sofetware.

Make sure you select the correct controller. I fyou selec tthe wrong controller you will be shown the "locked" message. That's because the EFILive software is attempting to unlock your controller with a different controller's key.

Also, look in the text that EFILive displays for the seed value. If the seed value is $FFFF, then enter a key value of $FFFF to unlock the controller.

Paul

Thanks Paul. I was choosing the proper controller, 99+LS1, for a 01 T/A. I didnt look in the text for the $FFFF, but I'll try that when I get back to it.
Tunin a 98 Vette tomorrow. Gonna try my hand at using EFIlive. Should be able to stumble my way thru.

Ok, bringing back an old thread, I am having this problem with the scanner. it connects and I can use the bi directional controls but when I try to monitor or log it just locks up and gives me a not responding error. I just got this new lap top and I installed the software from the cd I got with my efilive V2 tuner. my old laptop worked fine. I am running Win XP just like my old one. I even tried to un-install efilive and installed the latest 7.5 from the website and it does the same thing. any help would be great. Thanks
