Key needed????

I have a PCM from the salvage yard and when I go to the tune tool and try to even view the info, it requires a KEY. I don't have the key:notacrook: :notacrook: , is there anything that can be done? The PCM will run an engine so I believe that it has been reprogrammed by??? any ideas??

Sounds like a previous tuner locked that PCM, i think youll have to completely reflash it to use it.

No worries, im new to ;)

As far as i understand, you wont be able to see what is inside of that PCM now since it is locked, but you can completely reflash it with a new OS to get you started.

You need to read that whole post, that reply was specific to that problem.
The key is specific to the seed.

Unfortunately, if the PCM is locked and you don't have the key, Efilive will NOT be able to reflash the PCM.

There are people that can "Brute Force" the key out (it will cost you) or desoldering the flash chip and flashing it with a programmer will work.

I read the whole post. I understand it depends on the seed but it definitely wouldn't hurt anything to try what was suggested. My response was more based on posts nine and ten in that thread.
