I just bought a used 01 duramax/ally

when i try to connect to the truck it gives a message about the VIN#
and then says manufactuer Obdii paremeters have not been loaded:nixweiss:

i tried a couple different ways to enter the proper VIN# with no luck

when i connect to the truck it wont log properly?

i have not tried to read the ECM or flash it yet, should i ?

ive added 2 screenshots i hope you can see them

thanks

It may have a tune in it from another company. I have seen that before on a Westers tune.

thanks guy
i have never heard or read about anyone haveing this before
but i was kinda thinking the same thing..the person whom i purchased the truck from said it wasnt tuned?

i can see what the op system is,So do you think i just try flashin a known stock tune in or try to read the tune?

I agree, make a copy and then flash something new in.

If you need a copy of the stock tune for that truck, PM me the VIN # and I'll get you fixed up.

I can see why people might lock a PCM but is there any kind of edicate or standard operating proceedure so that we don't lock these down and render them useless? What is the norm?:notacrook:

TechII can also cause this issue, we have had a few customers who had a perfectly working ECM that after going to the dealer to be 'updated' comes back locked and VIN data wiped. Very common on 2001's

Ross

make sure the doors are all closed when trying to flash a 2001, I just had the same issue on one that I tuned, it would not even communicate withe ECM with the door on either side open.

I have the same issue that your are having. My pcm vin # is coming up with wierd digits when I scan the pcm. I have also been advised to send my pcm to wait4me to unlock the pcm by redoing the flash chip.
