Hi All,
well...next problem, aside from this...:bawl:

Whilst I'm deciding what to do about the above :bash: I decided to make sure everything else is ready to go.
Noticed the other day my fans didn't come on when I had the truck running and upto fan operating temp.
I got my multimeter out and measured my outputs from the PCM and they're working fine.
I used the 'force on' part of EFILive (which is fantastic by the way) to turn the fan outputs on and check them.
I get the low speed fan to come on but when I force the high speed fan on the two relays just click on and off like mad.
If I pull the relays and test the voltage across the PCM outputs I have a steady 12 or so volts (about 11.92 as my truck battery is a bit low). If I plug the relay back in, it goes back to clicking on and off.
When I 'force' the outputs on, does it completely overide the settings in the tune? If not, could that be my problem?
On/off delays etc?

That does not look like an electric fan Howard!

Whats lying on the ground looks like a mixed up jig saw puzzel...LOL

Replace those broken parts and get the Burb going, ease up on the torque managment, Try driving without shoes...:)

Not sure with the fans....

Chin up son.

cheers

Mick

Howard,

Yes, the bidir commands override the tune settings.

Sounds to me like you have failed relays or some loose ground wires.

Ouch... :bawl: ...that deserves an award for "most carnage in the smallest space"...

(was that a pic of your Suburban lifting the front wheels on a shift...? :D)

Cheers,
Joe

Wow I see a stain on that rag that looks like Elvis , Ebay . :notacrook:
Nice job !
Does sound like a relay is bad , if you have one laying around change it out and see .

Thanks guys.
I've tried changing the relays around but to no avail.
All the grounds are hooked together and the problem exists with the fans not even plugged in so no real load (apart from the relays themselves).

I take it there are only two relays involved here , switching them may not be the way to correct it if there is two relays .
Moving the problem relay from one socket to the other , try replacing them with new ones .
When the fans are in low speed mode they share the same ground thus series and 6v , when the fans are asked to become high speed the relays just switch grounds and both motors become 12v powered then .

hi howard, it's me joe. did you try the AC recirc switch option?

also make sure your on off temps are not crossed. I had my fan 2 relay clicking on and off and I changed the AC recirc switch and got the temps stright then all worked great.

Hi guys,
tunedbyGM, there are 3 relays and I've checked and double checked my wiring. When I got the fans, a co-worker got the OEM relay block and relays for me with 4" of the original wiring and the OEM plug for the fan end.
He also got me the elec schematic.
I hooked it all up as per the drawing and matched the colours.
Hi Joe, I just used pins 42(low speed) and 33(high speed).
I'm using the bi directional controls to test so the temps shouldn't matter?

At least your near the end of the power train now Howard. Better get some heavy axles now so that the whole thing can be heavy duty.

Lol! NOOOOooooooooo.
Funny ya know,
When I put the Whipple on, a few guys said "better be looking for a new trany...not a matter of if, but when".
New trany...few guys said "ought to upgrade the diff whilst you're at it....don't want it exploding and taking out the new trany".
And now you...with the axles!!!
I've managed to push all the crap down the powertrain and out the end Mick.
Hopefully this is it! (right...who am I kidding).

Lol! Good onya Mick!

Well, I just pulled the PCM from the truck and hooked up my bench harness and the three relays as per the fan diagram.
When I activate them via the bidirectional controls...still the same thing (click, click, click etc).
I then went into the tune and changed G0106 to #2 fan from A/C-auto recirc as Joe (s10mods) suggested and that did the trick.
I thought the bi-dir controls would just force a neg output straight to the pin in question?

Just put the PCM back in and reflashed with the change.
Fans work great!

Yep [G0106] has to be set to "Fan #2 Control" .
Glad you got it worked out .:notacrook:

As someone else asked me, does this mean the AC has to be on recirc for the fans to go into high speed?

No .
Go to holdencrazy and grab a 2005 Chevy or GMC truck .tun and look at it , they have the fans or even newer ones do also .
