View Full Version : Need Help with E-fan setup....

I have a set of aftermarket electric fans that draw alot of air and alot of amps. Currently, they are controlled from a stand-alone unit that turns on at about 185-190 degrees. I want to control the fans by the pcm.

What I need to know is how to wire them up so one turns on at a certain temp (lets say 185) and then the other turns on at a higher temp (lets say 200). How do I do this and what pins do I tap into on the PCM?

I don't understand the difference of "Low speed - both fans in series" and "High speed - both fans in parallel"...What is the difference between series and parallel (besides on is low and one is high speed:bash: )

Will running these fans at lower speeds ruin the motors? Are they designed to only run at a certain amperage? They are flex-a-lite if that matters.

At low speed they basically split the voltage so they get 6v each. At high speed they get the full 12v.
As far as I know, they will be fine.

Look and see if in the description of the fans if in RPM it says "Variable" you will be OK .
