WHY? Darn annoying. Why on earth would GM have locked TCC on WOT with the 454's?

Do the 496 trucks do the same?

I would chance a guess it's an oversight.

My 99 does it, I wonder if anyone has looked at a 96-98 and see if they do it. Did GM ever do it on the 91-95 4L80E's with 454's?

I think I have seen a 6.0L/4L80E file where the TCC was locked at WOT. It's been a while though and I can't remember for sure. I can't think of any good reason for this.

Is it a towing thing? Would you want to keep the trans cooler by towing at WOT with the conveter locked? Say up Pike's Peak with a 10K# trailer and WOT?

You would think the small block trucks would need this more than the big block trucks.

I always thought the stock TC woulndt take a lock up at WOT no matter what?

Some of the new body style trucks lock the TCC in third I think at WOT.
I dont think my stock tune did though.

Is the TCC always multipying torque when there is a diffrence in speed?
Or does it only do it at low speeds?
