2 98 F-Bodys, 2 Laptops, 2 V2's, none will connect

Hello all,

Having an issue that i cant figure out, I cannot connect to a 98 F-Body with the scan tool with my V2. When i try to connect, the bottom bar goes light grey on the bottom and no scan options are avaliable to me.

I have tried 2 different 98 Camaros, 2 different V2's, and 2 different laptops, what can be causing this problem?

For reference, i am enteringthe correct PCM when it asks what to connect to, i do know the 98's are different.

Are you using the same cable(s) ? Both USB and/or OBD2 are the same in all attempts?

No, have been swapping everything imaginable to make this work, it just seems that the V2 will not link up with the 98 PCM

Also, 1 more thing for reference, we were able to connect to both cars, via both laptops with our V1 just fine :)

In the Scan Tool properties, what do you have under the 'Preferred interface cable type' on the Connection tab?

Update

A little more evidence, 3 days ago we succesfully connected to a 98 Corvette with a V2 with no issues whatsoever, so we thought all was good. Then last night we tried to connect to a 98 Trans Am and once again it would not work, maybe this problem is with the 98 F-Body OS?

Hm ... I will be checking out a 98 next weekend ... should be able to confirm (or not) whether it's a general problem ...

Just tuned another 98 over the weekend, and once again had to use the V1, V2 would not connect.

To be more specific, when we try to connect the scan tool, the colored bar at the bottom turns yellow and says connecting just like it should, but when its finished with that the bar turns light grey and we have no controls and cannot scan anything on the car.

Summary, were at 5 97-98 vehicles now, 4 F-Bodys and 1 Corvette, we connected to the vet with V2 just fine, but have not been able to connect to any of the 98 F-bodys, we have tried 2 V2's, and 2 Laptops, with the same results, is there any word on what could be causing this?
