View Full Version : Formal Request for COS5 for 1MB PCMs (04 GTO, etc)

I would like to start this thread to formally request COS5 for a 1MB LS1 PCM. I have a 2004 GTO PCM, and would really like to have the features that are only curretnly availble with COS5. I do not think I am alone, please post here if you would like to use COS5 for the 1MB LS1 PCMs.

I would be very thankful if you created a COS5 for my application. I am sure many other customers would use this as well.

Hi Kevin,

A formal request hey. The crazy part is, I know we did this OS for a shop out here that had a GTO with a big cam and Nitrous, I'll contact them today to see if they still have the files......cause I can't find them :bawl:

Cheers,
Ross

Ross,
I know of a quite a few more well deserving 1MB based vehicles that would be very, very grateful.

Ross, have you had any luck tracking it down?

Ah sorry, yes I heard back, but it was not what we needed, the mod we had done was only to allow TPS VE mapping on ETC, there was no Nitrous settings, I'll need to start from scratch, but I will do it.
The GTO seemed to come out with a number of OS's in the US, I'd like to have to just do - 12592433, as this covers the local Holdens as well.
Is that what OS you have in your car?

Cheers,
Ross

Ross doesnt 04140003 cover all that except the NOS stuff , and TPS stuff ?

Ross, my OS is 12587604. My ECU came from a US 2004 GTO. If you do that OS you listed, would I be able to use that, or how would that work?

if the cos5 ever arrives i will be glad but i will have to make do until then...

i am right now at 26 degrees total advance on the 150 single stage wet with no knock or plug damage...(actually for all of last year,80+ plus n2o runs at different shots and timing)...
backed down to 24 total in preparation for making this wet nozzle kit a dual stage dry direct port, hitting a 50 out of the hole(3000rpms),and lighting off the second stage 100 shot 1000rpms later for a total of 150...(maybe 75-75)...

simply going to set the PE to activate above 98% throttle, set fuel for 9.0afr and work my fuel afr up to 12.0afr while spraying until i get there...window switch and tps switch remain the same and manually activate the 2nd stage...

i really not spraying much,i just wanted to eliminate the fuel solenoid from the system in case it fails to open and since i am olsd a dual dry from the nozzle, letting the injectors supply the fuel is my goal...

I too would love to have COS5 for my 01 Z06. I could use it's added features with my setup.

If your running the original PCM in your 01 Z06, you should be able to use COS5 just fine.

Sorry Kevin Doe, I don't know what to say, we (I) just have had an overwhelming amount of work to get done since the start of the year.
I know in your eyes it's not an excuse, but it is just the reality of this business, everyone wants everything by yesterday.
Sometimes I feel like a triage nurse.

I fully understand that you and your co-workers are very busy, and have been working very hard. I have been a part of the BBL beta for about 6 months now, and the progress made there is astonishing in such a short time.

I want to see a realistic outlook on this task. Will a COS5 ever be available for my OS (2004 GTO)? How long of a task is it to create one? Can you put a self imposed deadline on yourself to help this from slipping through the cracks? I just don't want to get brushed under the rug much longer if possible.

Your honest evaluation is appreciated.

Its features like your COS 5 that push those on the fence to a purchase (it did me :hihi:), making it available for the Gen 4's is not just making a few current customers happy, it will likely draw in new customers. :gossip:

What I had planned on doing was stripping down the custom OS's, so for the NOS guys, they simply have the monitored input and the fuel / spark tables to match, that was it, no TPS VE, no Boost VE etc.
Doing it this way means the possibility of adding a NOS custom OS to all 55 GenIII operating systems makes it a less daunting task and also gets the job done quicker.
PCM Flash memory space constraints will dictate that a custom OS5 cannot be done on many 2004+ OS's anyway.

Of interest, I mentioned above 55 OS's for the GenIII, this is since 1998, for the GenIV, between just the E38 & E67 there is over 50 OS's we support for them since they came out in 2006, this is where much of our R&D time is going at the moment. What is GM doing!!!

Have a think about how a simplifed NOS custom OS would work for you.

Cheers,
Ross

If I had my pick of course I'd like a full up COS5, but like you said there are way too many OSs to cover. Sounds like you are not or cannot do a full up OS for the 04 GTO PCM. If that is the case then yes, I would prefer to have a nitrous OS as opposed to nothing.

I basically want to run a dry shot of nitrous in speed density. I have thought about doing a rear mount turbo, but in reality I'll probalby stay NA.

Kevin Doe
May 23rd, 2008, 12:45 AM
If I understand correctly there is a COS3 available for 12587604. Wouldn't be easier to just add the nitrous to that as opposed to stripping it down first, then adding it? Nitrous added to COS3 would make me a very happy man.

i have experimented a little with the resistor inline off the iat for the spark...
that same value can be used for the pe fuel modifier off the iat as well...

i need to get my car operational again so i can experiment more...
maybe a resistor mod for the ect to control the open loop fuel table, then tweak with the pe iat fuel modifier...

How i see this working as it should...

1) We need to add a 3d table that we can hook up a fuel pressure sensor for the bottle. So we can do a pressure vs rpm 3d table for fuel modifier! (VE)

2) A timing retard table vs RPM

3) An activated output that works for a window switch directly from the PCM

That would be the best way. But using the tables available in the COS5 which is a retard and a PE modifier adder.. .Well.. that should be enough.

But for simplicity.. a simple 2d table for RPM retard and a simple 2d table for fuel adder would work... i think...

And be able to log all of this of course!!! here you go ross...

I would love to have this for the E38 Z06 file.

2 stage dry is the ticket...just enough down low to flash up the converter, then pile on the rest...

then we will be the only 2 known cos#5 dry shot setups north of the equator actually going down the track...:gossip:

You could with a custom calculated pid. For instance if you are running 12.5 to 1 commanded afr, but you want 11.3 to 1 afr while spraying obviously the standard BEN pid wont work. So you would need to make a pid something like
calc.afr/commanded.afr-offset. In this case the offset would be 1.2.
