That error is: "Message too short", which means the data sent to the FlashScan unit form the PC was cut short - for some reason. Possibly due to a fault in the USB connection somewhere.
Can you please click on the status button to find out the boot block version number it MUST be 2.4.10 - if not the unit will need to be returned to EFILive to be updated.
If the boot block version is ok, try these options:
- use a different USB port on you computer.
- use a different USB cable (any standard USB cable will be fine)
- install EFILive on a adifferent compueter and try updating the firmware there.

You should also try updating to the latest EFILive software and FlashScan firmware here:
http://forum.efilive.com/showthread.php?t=6646
That update contains a later firmware version: FSProg_V2_4_67.ffw

Thank you Paul. Everything seems ok now.
I see the update for
http://download2.efilive.com/Softwar...751_027_69.zip
Should I let that go for now until furthur beta testing is done?
Also I notice I have multiple .ffw files in the V7 folder. Should I delete the old one (and/or should it have been done automatically)?
Thanks again,
Chris

Unless you'd like to beta test, I'd stick with the release Paul linked you to ;)

It doesn't matter if those *.ffw files are in that folder or not. They are only used when re-programming the flashScan unit. You can delete them all once you have programmed the latest one into FlashScan.
