So I put a 5.3 out of a 04 Tahoe in a 72 Chevy 4x4 pickup and the pcm I got was out of a 05. No problem, so I did a full reflash with a 04 OS cuz the motor was a flex fuel motor and I turbocharged it. Anyway, I noticed that after I ran it and made a log, I went to open the log and it said the vin doesn't match the tune I had just flashed in to the PCM :nixweiss:. Checked it and sure enough, they are different from the scan tool to the tune tool. Any ideas why? I am running version V7.5.1 of the soft ware.

Set the VIN you want using the scantool.

Oh, I know I can change it with the scan tool, I just thought it was weird that the tune and the scan tools saw 2 different vin number in the same pcm. The difference is only in the last 6 digits, which is just the sequence number it came off the line right?

Ok, I think I see what happened, when I did the Recall for this motor with the full write, it changed the VIN the tune tool see's, but not the vin the Scanner see's. Vin must be stored in more then one area. I will reset the vin with the Scanner to match the tune file I flashed into it and we should be good to go. :)
