Hello, I need help. I've killed my car, it's stuck in the driveway.
It is a 2008 Chevy Suburban, with the L76 6.0 Liter, and a 4L-70E transmission. There is a T42.
I read the calibration with no issue, and no errors. I made some mods, tried to reflash, and I am getting
11:19:15.458: Erasing TCM flash memory... (please wait up to 45 seconds)
11:19:16.099: TCM flash memory erased OK
11:19:16.359: Reflashing TCM's memory...
11:19:40.694: Total time: 00:24
11:19:40.694: Data compression achieved: 0.0%
11:19:40.894: Checksum of flash failed after write completed. Please reflash the controller.
11:19:40.904: TCM is in an unknown state.
So, I searched around here, didn't find much. I reattempted to read the TCM, which it did (saying there were checksum errors). I recomputed the checksums and tried to reflash, I got the same errors.
The TCM is definately dead, I get continual "Service Traction Control" and "Service Stabilitrak", and shifting to a gear shows no gear selected on the dash and barely any movement of the vehicle.
The tunes are available at:
http://www.nac.net/photos/efi/t42%20tunes.zip
(both stock that I extracted and the mods I am trying to reflash).
Any help appreciated, desperately need this vehicle to be running ASAP.

Please try (if you have not already) upgrading to EFILive V7.5 here:
http://forum.efilive.com/showthread.php?t=6964
Also, please locate the matching *.blx file in the folder:
\My Documents\EFILive\V7\Bug Reports\YYYYMMDD_HHMMSS_download.blx
where YYYYMMDD is the date and HHMMSS is the time that the first reflash failed.
Send that *.blx file to me at paul@efilive.com

If it gives you 'some' comfort, the TCM is recoverable, we all just need to work with you on why it is failing at the end of the flash.
When you send the files to Paul can you also please include the file you read back out after it failed on the programming so we can see what part of the write is not being written back to the TCM (If that is the problem).
Cheers,

OK, here is where we are.
To review, it is a 2008 Chevrolet Suburban L76 6.0 Liter, M70 4L-70E. E38 and a T42, from what I can tell.
The file of info is at:
http://www.nac.net/photos/efi/bundle.zip
On 12/5/2007, I pulled both the ECM and TCM stock tunes so that I had them on file and something to work off. They are:
2008 Chevy Suburban L76 - 3GNFK16Y98G189298 - motor - 2007-12-05 - stock.tun
2008 Chevy Suburban L76 - 3GNFK16Y98G189298 - trans - 2007-12-05 - stock.tun
I now have tried to simply reflash the TCM only with the above file. When I did that:

"EFILive has detected that this TCM may not have a valid calibration. EFILive can still read the damaged calibration, or reflash a new calibration. Or
Make sure you have selected the correct controller type at the top of the window. Click OK to continue..."
I clicked OK.
Then:
"TCM does not contain a valid calibration, attempt to retrieve TCM data anyway? (Yes/No)"
I clicked Yes.
It proceeded.

Then,

Also, in the file are the two related BLX files, as requested.

Please try (if you have not already) upgrading to EFILive V7.5 here:

Paul
And, I am running V7.5.1 Build 34.
The calibration is 24239927.cal, 10/22/2007, 57,706 bytes.

The problem was the new V2.05.xx firmware runs faster than the old V2.04 firmware and was sending messages too fast for the TCM to keep up. I have introduced a delay between data frames transmitted to the TCM. That slows down the reprogramming by about 50%. So instead of 30 seconds it will take about 45 seconds.
This is only a temporary solution but it will recover your TCM.
I have sent the updated firmware to your email.
Sorry for the problem and inconvenience and thank-you for being patient. Problems like these are normally resolved within 24 hours but with the new year break it has taken a little longer.

Attached is the firmware update that fixed arubenstein's problem.
The (0101) just means Jan 01.
Please flash this into your FlashScan device and then try reflashing your TCM again. It should be ok this time.

is this for all V2 interfaces, or only those who have upgraded to the BB logging as this shows up as a .efw not an .ffw and the firmware updater will not recognise it?

Its only for units that have been upgraded to the new 2.5 bootblock. The problem does not occur in the 2.4 boot block versions.
And for the upgraded units the above link is now obsolete. They should be using the latest beta release available here: http://forum.efilive.com/showthread.php?t=7566
