I have an E38 file that doesnt give me the custom os option to lower the fan temps down from a minimum of 192. Has this been added or is it in the works.

Ps the limit on the efi files need to be increased from 1.0 mb to 2 or something like that since this file couldnt be attached with the forum software

The size limit is 'supposed' to be 4Mb, that is what it is set to.

Not sure what OS your file is but the only OS that I have not done the fan patch on is 12617175, this is for the 2008 Impala. All others should give you the option.

Cheers,
Ross

Make sure both red write icons are enabled.
If the full reflash icon is greyed out, then the operating system patches will not be visible.
Close both Scan and Tune and then reload Tune and the operating system patches will be visible.

I'm having a similar issue right now. I'm working on an E38 '07 Vortec Max 6.0L with OS 12614088. There is no fan patch listed for this OS under the upgrade OS tab. Ross, can you help out with this? Is there an update that I am missing? I can send you the .tun file if needed.

Thanks
Jay

This is an example of a file that the patch option does not come up for.

I checked in here on that OS and it's in there for me.
I can only assume you might have old .cal files?
Download the ones in this thread -
http://forum.efilive.com/showthread.php?t=5540
(Note: they are the same as the ones in 7.5)

Ross,

I'm workin within v7.5.3 (Build 36) with my file. I did double check that my .cal files were up to date as per your link above. The cal file version is 7.10 the date is December 20, 2007 as outlined in the post you linked to above. I've even downloaded the .cal files and replaced the ones in "\Program Files\EFILive\V7\Calibrations\E38" again with the .cal files linked to above hoping that something was missing, I have the same result. No fan patch for that OS. In fact out of curiousity, I checked out all the other E38 files I have and the fan patch does not come up for any of them? :nixweiss: Any ideas?

Thanks,
Jay

Have you got your V2 unit plugged in to your computer when looking at the .TUN file. I had a look and can only get the extra tables and patches to appear with my V2 plugged in.

Good point, no I did not have the V2 plugged in. I'll try that, thanks.

Thanks for the suggestion about plugging in the V2, but unfortunately, no fan patchs show up in the "upgrade OS" tab for either of the 2 E38 OSs that I have tried. Back at square one.

Thanks,
Jay

Whoops, I see where I was going wrong. Rookie mistake. I was going about applying the patch the wrong way. Problem solved, thanks for everyone's time!

It's not in the "upgrade OS" section. It's in your >TUN file. Look for {B9904} Cooling Fan Operation Range Patch.
Hope that helps.

I'm embarrassed to say, but thats exactly where I was going wrong. Thanks for straightening me out. I've never applied a "patch" before so I was expecting the wrong thing, but stumbled across it when I was looking at the main Calibration screen where it has "{B9904} fan patch not applied" at the bottom of the list. This prompted me to locate {B9904} and beat my head against the computer monitor for not finding the obvious.... Thanks again!

Sorry guys, we don't hide these things on purpose. I'd hoped the patch folder in might attract some attention? Maybe a folder with a pic of a bikini babe (or muscle man for the girls) might be a future mod ;)

Ross
