E-85 Conversion

I have an 05 GMC Sierra. According to the Predator Programmer web page, most of the newer GM truck lines are equipped to run as flex fuel vehicles, you only to activate the "dormant" parts, ie. the fuel sensor. Can we do this. I can't find anything to turn on the sensor. There is a pid for logging GME85PCT, but when i log it it only shows 0.

here is the quote " will allow 03-07 GM trucks to run E-85 in their stock vehicle without having to purchase expensive conversion kits. This tuner modifies stock PCM programming to allow components that already lie dormant in these trucks to pick up and use ethanol in the fuel line. In the old days, this would been impossible due to the use of organic rubber in vehicle fuel lines, but for the last 10 years GM has been including synthetic fuel lines and ethanol sensors in these vehicles STOCK! So they are saying the 03+ trucks already have capablitly for E-85.
Does that mean they have a diffrent fuel pump and injectors.

no just the E-85 fuel sensor

Only the "Z" vin trucks have the necessary equipment needed to run Flex Fuel from the factory (larger fuel pump, 33lph injectors and the fuel comp sensor). Normal trucks can be ran on E-85, but they need bigger fuel injectors and some tables modified for the differents in the stoch, but you have to either run it or not, cuz they don't have the fuel comp sensor. All trucks don't come with them and they are like $500+ to buy from the dealer. I have looked into this a lot as I would LOVE to run my truck on E85 if I could get it. The turbo would love it!

my truck has several ethanol tables in the pcm from the factory, i'm not sure about the sensor though. i sent an e-mail to see if they can clear this up for me. they claim to be the only ones that can convert to flex fuel. i just wonder how.

Most all the 03+ OSs have the ethanol tables, but unless its the "z" vin, it won't have the hardware :(

I'm still interested in what they say about it though :)

i dont have the z code. but i did change the stoich value so it runs right. i kept getting LTFT lean codes. i'll let you know what they say.

The Virtual Flexible Fuel Sensor algorithm replaces a sensor used to measure the concentration of ethanol in the fuel supply of the vehicle, and automatically adjusts the fuel control system to account for that concentration. This allows the sensor to be eliminated from those vehicles capable of ethanol fuel.

This innovation is being applied to flexible fuel (ethanol & gasoline) applications beginning in the 2006 model year. The Virtual Flexible Fuel Sensor allows GM to realize a savings of approximately $47M in MY2006, along with continued cost avoidance for all future ethanol applications.

I've heard a little about this, I think The EFILive guys could probably do something like this with a custom OS, but I don't think they will. It would probable require too much time and not enough interest, but we can always hope... :please: :D

I was thinking what if you modified to wear the fuel trims would correct past 25%?

I guess this would throw off some other stuff but at least you could run ethanol with ethanol timing and settings but if you couldtn fill up with ethanol you could go get some gas untill you could get ethanol?
