View Full Version : What parameters can a RR tune?

Just how many parameters can I tune with a RR? All?:D Most?:) Some?:bawl:
What limitations are there in using a RR?
Say if I am going to use a 0411 PCM in my 99 K2500 454 Burb (mods are going to be done) using L31 code, using a RR PCM, can I do RTT?
Does anyone forsee issues I might have?

the potential is endless, if you know how to configure it right.
too bad the only way to apply logged data is to (paste) multiply,
which won`t be any help if you want to subtract knock
from your spark table or add (RAFIG) to you desired air table.
the need to be able to change the way data is applied
with the RR is sorely missing, and would greatly improve
if not revive the marketability for this device.
there doesn`t seem to be any desire to update/upgrade
an ECU that is not being installed on newer model cars.
i know that any company needs to move forward in it`s
product development to keep up with what people are buying but,
this leaves the "old/outdated" products that customers
have purchased in the past that otherwise function perfectly
to wither on the vine.

You can real time adjust any parameter in the cal, some use RTACS and make the adjustments for you, some you input yourself but its all done in real time

Iv'e read your beef through multiple threads about the RR. Ok, I don't get it.
1) Do you really want to rely on a knock sensor to measure/know where peak torque/ cylinder pressure is?-or more importantly is not? The knock sensor response is not all that stellar. I am guessing when the digital input for the V2 is availible we will be able to set up a correction factor like the WBO2, only using the data from a dyno or other means...
2) You set RAF and that's it...what's the big real time deal here?
3) As far as the 512kb pcm being dead- I don't see any obvious advantages of the "newer" pcms as far as control of fuel/air/spark.
Sorry for the unintentional rant. The superbowl is not so super so far.
Back to the OP's question- You can adjust everything real time. Even the tables HP doesn't deem it necessary for you to adjust.

I try to avoid the HPT RTT software questions, but yes, I am very curious how well they do in comparisson.
Any chance anyone knows how TunerCat RTOBD2 does?

i don`t think you understood the topic,
i`m saying it makes no sense to only be able to
adjust tables by multiplying only.
EFI live should have ALWAYS had the option to
set how logged data is applied and,
anytime i get the chance to voice this i will
until the option becomes available or someone
tells me why it should`nt be.
it most likely won`t ever happen because
of the fact that the 516kb ECU is obsolete
and it doesn`t seem to matter to
EFILive and Moates, that there is still some
people that have bought this product and
would like to see some progression with it.
IMO there seems to be no interest in making
the change to the software.:nixweiss:
after i found out that the default is to multiply
i have tried to get this subject some attention
and i can`t believe more people don`t want
this option to at least be available to them
even if they won`t use it.
this is the only weakness that i see with the RR.
i`m not trying to hurt feelings just venting.
:notacrook:
and as for the HPT "realtime" i think that you
must manually paste to the tables you want
to change as where the RR makes changes on it`s own.

It is actually listed on the development whiteboard on the wall, and has been for a while - I've had multiple requests for this update. Once a request goes on the whiteboard it *will* get done. I see no reason why it won't be in the next update.

No offense taken ;)

So if I understand it correct, say if I want to adjust timing in one cell that I see an issue with, I have to multiply the value in there to get the new value?
Example: 28 degrees I would need to multiply by 1.035ish to get to 29 degress? I can't just enter in 29?

No, you can enter 29. Mr.Prick is just talking about ways to have the RR update automatically (RTACS). When in emulator mode, you can adjust any parameter in the PCM in real time.

How does the RTACS mode work? What does it do for me over emulator mode?

The software activates the realtime changes of all available parameters in the tuning tool. There is no RTACS available in this software. There is no means to trace data back to a cell in a map, yet, as the software needs to further advance.
The Scan tool software was lacking in this department. PcmScan now excepts the Tunercat interface, via Westers Garage.

I mainly use the RTACS for my VE table. I go into the commanded a/f table and tell it i want to run 15.5 a/f while crusing on the interstate....14.7 everywhere else and then of course a little richer until i get to boost where i have it rich. You just drive around and let it do its magic. The rest of the time i just change stuff while driving down the road. Ill tell my wife to add a few degrees of timing in the cell area I am in while driving down the road.....change shift points or stuff like that. My roadrunner pcm stays in the car all the time because I am ADDICTED to doing everything in realtime. TACS is not a necessity but a GREAT luxury like HDTV

Stop making me jealous man! No RR for a P10/P12:frown:

So if I get a RR, I just need the EFILive RR license and go to town right?

Yes you will be able to reprogram your RR PCM with just an RR and an EFILive RR license.
However you need at least the EFILive Scan Tool (i.e. FlashScan V1 or V2 - Scan Only) in order to use the real-time logging/feedback of the RR.

Well, RR comes in the mail tomorrow! (bummer, don't have a car/truck to plug it into yet...) But got RT TC finally! EFIL to follow very soon....
