View Full Version : Cannot use Scan - Tune works ok

I have installed V7.5 and am tuning a 04 Vette, LS1. I can tune and make changes no problem, but when I go to use the Scan program, it simply freezes when I click to show/record data. It connects ok when I choose that option.

I have tried to re-load the USB drivers per the instructions, but the FTC utility doesn't work as described for me (says file access denied). And when I try to run the USB driver installation, it only finds one of the three files needed in the folder described in the instructions. If I use the CD that came with my kit, I can reload the old USB drivers straightaway, but then the Scan software locks up.

Thanks in advance, I am stuck!

To prevent the "File Access Denied" message you must run with adminstrator privileges. If you are, then it could be one or more files from the driver set are missing.

You can try updating the drivers as follows:

1. Connect FlashScan
2. Right Click on My Computer, select Properties.
3. Select HArdware->Device Manage
4. Expand Universal Serial Bus controllers.
5. Right click on FlashScan and select Update Driver.

Make sure you are using the latest drivers (for your particular operating system) available here:

Also, try using a different USB socket on your laptop - not all USB connections/controllers are "equal".

That did the trick, thank you very much!
