My trans goes into normal hot trans mode 2 and shifts at high pressures and won't go into 4th, I have the trans overtemp set at 125 degrees and none of my logs show anything over 90 degrees c. Seems to be fine for about 15 minutes and then goes in to hot 2 normal mode, it comes out again later and seems temp related but there is no Hot 2 normal options in the cal. Any ideas??

Is that 125 F or C ??

In your tune, what values do E1101 and E1102 contain...?

Thats degrees C and the E1101 and 1102 are set at 125 and 130 respectivly.
My data log shows max trans cell temps at 90 degrees. I run 2 external coolers with a separate fan as its a competition 4x4, so far its only played up on longer drive back and forth from home to work, about 25 minute trips and about 15 minutes into the drive. It didnt fault when manually shifted during tuning for hours.

Hmmm.... try setting E1102 to 120.

Thats where it was to start with stock, I put them up to try to stop the problem.

Try making E1102 less than E1101.

No go.
It happens after a while on the road. I improved the fan shrouding and got the operating temps down to 85 degress c max. So I don't think its temp. I'll drive it to work on Friday and look at the trans PIDS, see if I can see what changes when it does it. Excessive converter slip maybe??

Joel,

One of the TSTATE pids has a bit to indicate Hot mode... see if this bit is being set.

Yeah thats the one I've been monitoring that changes state from normal to Hot 2 Normal. There is a Hot table in the tune callibration but I don't see specifically HOT 2 Normal. It seems to fail on the same Road on my way home, predominantly in 4th gear with the TC locking and unlocking as requested.

I have to look in my service manual to see what causes hot mode (besides temperature).

On that road, is there something unusual (a steep incline or bumpy surface)...?

On that road, how often is the TCC locking/unlocking...?

The road has a gradual incline, bitumen, speed is 80k, with two round abouts and 3 intersections, one with traffic lights that I usually have to stop at. The TCC max min I have changed to 0 and 100% for the whole tables. The TCC locks and unlocks approximatly 6-8 times.
The TCC unlocks on zero tps, even at speed it feels to me as if it shouldn't but that is from the origional cal. I was goind to change it so it stayed locked in until the speed got down to about 30 kph and see what happenes.

All help appreciated

Are you getting any misfires...?

None I've noticed, havent logged missfires though.
I've heard the converter dosen't like decel with the converter locked due to a weak sprag, not that there would be much load in 4th and 3rd I would have thought??
I havent got any missfire codes.

Took the car off road and gave it a flogging, it performed well without going into HOT 2 shift mode, it must definetly be related to the TCC operation.

What tables did you change...?

None, the problem is still there if driven where the TCC has to lock and unlock. Over the weekend I was giving the car heaps and the TCC wouldn't have functioned much. I have the TCC set to unlock under any load as I don't want to burn it out. I still don't know what sets HOT 2 mode, the callibration file dosen't show a HOT 2 just a HOT mode, I think there is a table missing from the callibration.

It's a mystery... :nixweiss: ...I'm sure there are several tables missing.

sorry to bring up this old thread, but I have the exact same issue. Did you solve this, and if so what did you find was the problem? Note your symptoms are near identical to mine.
