Hi,

I am lookin to change my engine from a LS6 to a LS2. Now i found my PCM to be 12592618 and i would like to upgrade the os to 12596660. Is this possible? Or will i be runnin into issues?

Swap in an LS2 for an LS6? Need a different ECM entirely, an E40 or E38 (or E67) to run an LS2, the LS1/6 PCM cannot control it. If you just want to upgrade the OS, then you can upgrade to a COS if you want but just upgrading GM OSs (unless theres something changed) wont do anything...

You can run an LS2 with your existing PCM, but the LS2 has to be equipped with a 24-tooth reluctor and LS1 style knock sensors. LS2 and LS3 swaps are farily common and a number of companies offer the necessary conversion harnesses. The reluctor swap isn't quite as easy-- the crank will have to come out of the block.

Hmm, I stand corrected. Make sure you check because some LS2s come with 24x reluctors (06 TB SS, 05-06 SSRs, early Vettes) from GM. But the Vette from 06+ has 58x and the 07-08 TB SSs are 58x too.

I think in LS2-land 24-tooth reluctors are accompanied by E40 processors and 58-tooth reluctors go along with E38 processors.

Yep, thats the reference I was using, the 06 TB SS/05-06 SSRs use the E40, 07-08 TB SS uses the E38.

Took your advice and got my LS2 with the correct reluctor installed, and also got I think all the needed harness adaptors...CAM relocation and knock relocation...

Will talk with a friend from lingenfelter and see what else would be needed...

Thank you again...
