Hey all, I have a bit of a problem that has been bugging me

First off, I own HPTuners equipment, and I want to see if the feature is available in EFILive to solve my problem.

I have a 2002 Silverado 1500HD LQ4 and a 4L80E. What I want is to not have the TCC unlock in 4th gear when i let off the throttle. When the tps gets near to 0% (usually 2% or less) the converter comes unlocked. I understand the converter will unlock when the brakes are used, but is there a way i can have 4th stay locked with no throttle using EFILive? I just want to know if it is possible to do in the VCM, or if it is something hardcoded.

Thanks in advance!

You can download a demo of EFILive here:
http://download2.efilive.com/Software/V7/EFILiveV742_534_666_657_60.exe

And download this file to see if what you are looking to edit exists.

You'll want to look at table D1006.

Hmm...Thats 1006 is CLOSE, but not it. Im referencing an enovy LL8 4l60, and for 0% TPS the tcc should release at 68km/h(68mph). I happen to have a trailblazer ll8 4l60 (it has the same problem as my 1500HD btw) and it unlocks no matter what speed you're doing when you let off. could be 120mph, it still opens up when you quit jammin on it for a second. Thanks though.

Some OS's will release the TCC regardless of the release tables.

Some truck OS's release; the F-body and Y-body OS's do not.

You would have to get OS 12212156 (2002 F-body) [which I know does not release], and then you would copy all your tables into it, and then you would copy your 4L80E calibration into it (some members of this forum have built a 4L80E file from a 4L60E file like this).

You can do this with the EFILive software that Al linked you to (you only need a license when flashing).

My LL8 does it too, I really wish it didnt though. Gets annoying on the hwy with the TCC unlocking when I pull my foot off the gas and taking a sec to relock when I put my foot back into it.

This sounds like a good idea. I'd like to be able to do the same.

It would be easier if there was a parameter to enable/disable it, but I'm not sure if this is how GM did it or if they hard coded it.

Yes Joe....that would be ideal.
I noticed yesterday whilst driving/logging (the kids..."oh...are you still doing that thing with the laptop? How long does it take to tune a car?") that the converter locks up at around 72kph in 4th andwon't unlock if I hit the gas...which I really need as the truck loads up and starts pinging.

Howard,

Lol... kids will always say "are we/you there yet..." that's their nature... :D

At your operating point (speed/throttle) increase D1006 slightly so that your operating point falls below the curve as you increase throttle... i.e. make the operating point cross to below the curve.

But do keep D1006 below D1003, don't let the 2 cross/touch... you may need to also increase D1003 slightly in a few spots.

Cheers,
Joe
