Question about scanning

My dad has a 98 silverado Z71 with the vortec 5.7 motor. I see that this is only supported by efilive v2. Can I still scan and read trouble codes with my V1 though?

Yes, I believe you can read/clear DTC's and the OBD-II data using V1 (and bidir mode might even work).

Is it possible then Joe that it would read trouble codes and clear them on say a 97 lumina? That is not even on the supported list but is OBDII.

If it's GM OBD-II then it should be able to. Let me know how it goes.

Well I dont even see the ECU in the drop down list for the lumina so I dunno about that 1 but im going to try the truck atleast. Thanks again Joe.

I just want to say it worked for both my beater and my dads truck that were not in the supported list. Not all the pids worked when logging but most did and I was able to read and clear the trouble codes. Thanks Joe

If you don't see the ECM type in the drop down list, you could just select LS1 99-08.
