quick question about swapping PCMs

i bought a different pcm for my truck and im going to start tunning on it. what exactly do i have to do to? just swap it in and start building a tune?

the pcm came out of the same truck 5.3, k1500 etc..

If this is the same computer for your truck and it is used(meaning it is pre-flashed), I believe it will plug in and your truck will run but you will get a check engine light because your VIN won't match up with the....BCM (I think)...I did this on a 2000 firebird. You can correct the VIN using EFIlive, but it will cost you a license, then you can start tuning. Why did you replace the computer in the first place?

he had a tuned PCM from Nelson... now he is SCed and other stuff... so the Nelson PCM is no good for him now.
