Last night, I went to Mooresville's 1/8th mile track. It's been raining every weekend scheduled for test n'tune and it looked like rain again. We had a 2 hour delay because of ominous black clouds that finally blew over and I had another commitment so could only get in 3 runs. On the first, the tires spun and the timer did not print slips. I lowered tire pressure from 20 to 18 and spun some on the 2nd run. I dropped it to 16 and hooked really well. I'm used to my 87 mph old engine runs, so this car, for me, is scary fast.
60'-1.64
ET-7.25
MPH-97.75
It was a hot night and timing was pulled from 21* to 16*, AFR was 13:1.
1st shifted at 6000 and 2nd at 6600.
I think, looking at the MPH, there is a 6 second run in it if I play with the above.

Congrats Joe!!
Ten MPH is huge!! Is your face sore from smiling??
What were your 1/8s with the old motor-402?
I'm with Howard - I'd love to see 1/4 times, too.

Thanks y'all, I feel pretty good because I know there is more there and it's a really smooth, fun daily driver to boot. I will do more tuning on shifts, timing and AFR. Not until the fall when it cools. I'm not as dedicated to wringing out the most as I once was.
Bink,
My old motor made 412hp, had a 3.90 and yank 4200. I believe it ran a best of 7.19. That was after a lot of runs and tweaking and a very nice cool day. It usually ran 7.3 to 7.5. Not bad, but also too hairy for me on the street. It think it was setup perfectly for the 1/8th.

I would like to run it in the 1/4. There are two issues. The closest track is Rockingham, about a 2 hour drive, so how do I get my tires there? I don't have a rollbar, so I need to guess what run to not hold back and get thrown out.

John,
Better get some slicks. That car will be a beast.
If you drive I-77 or I-52 you should stop by.

Joe,
Are you going to get the 1->2 shift to trigger at 6600...?

Joe

Joe,
I'll move the MPH and RPMs up some, for the 1-2 shift. It's odd that the 2-3 shift is set at 6500 and completed at 6650. That's really good. the 1-2 is set at 6500, also? It's a problem setting the 1-2 shift on the street, since I have no traction in 1st gear, on street tires. That will have to be a priority at the next track session.

Chalky,
Thanks, it will be extra nice when I get into the 6's.
That's very nice power you're making with a pretty mild cam.
Tony Mamo does good work.

The LS7/427 is such a sweet motor and so well built> The power has to be scary!

Agreed regarding Tony Mamo. A great source for any questions and ideas.
