Been helping out with an LS1 repower on an airboat.
Originally powered with a 400 cu chev (RIP) the decision was made to upgrade to an LS1 (99 holden calais)
As you will see from pic's this involved a few mods as the engine is mounted vertically. the sump and oil pump pick up were modified and the inlet manifold rotated with throttlebody to rear (top) of engine.

the wireing loom was stripped of all of the unecessary wireing ,no o2s ,no MAF, factory fuel pump was modded to fit the fuel tank.

Flashed a manual , mafless COS3 base tune in with Vats turned off and o2's disabled ,and after sorting a small glitch in wireing she fired right up:rotflmao:

Now the old chev motor would pull 4000 rpm max with the boat on the trailer, bit like srapping it to a dyno so we were a bit tentative as to what the little 346 LS1 could do against the torquey 400 chev.
amazingly it pulled 4200 rpm ,the base tune was pretty close, just dialed in the VE and pulled a few deg of timeing here and there.Runs very sweetly

Tomorrow it's on the water for a run which should be a buzz, this thing is capable of over 100 mph on water and mud flats !
