Hi All,
In my search for info on the Bosch (Ford SVO-Motorsport) 42lb injectors I came across some interesting info.
Apparently the Ford Lightnings don't use knock sensors. They're either unplugged or disabled in the tune (this is from the factory). The reason being the noise from the roots twin screw blower will cause the tune to pull timing via KR.
Any thoughts on this?

They must be running conservative timing... but we all know there are conditions which cause knock regardless...:nuke:

If you ever read a manual it says its completely normal to hear pinging like when going up a hill or something.

But then this is at very low rpms but its also at high loads.

I did not want to deal with the 42lb SVO's or the 60lb Moto's due to the fact that they require a lot of tweaking so I had a set made that flow as much as the Moto's but with the same "dead times" as the stock injectors. I started a thread about them here: http://www.performancetrucks.net/forums/showthread.php?t=416134

Justin will be tuning my truck with these injectors on so we should no shortly. I looked at the data they came with and they should not need any adjustments to the "battery offset" only change the IFR to the new flow rate.

hquick, I saw your post on the Ford Lightning forums and was wondering why you don't just have your injectors tested so you can have a data sheet with the correct dead times. It only costs about $50 to test an injector.

To be honest...I don't want to have to pull them out.
I also thought if someone finally gets the correct numbers it may help all the others in the same boat as me.

Yes, the only easy way is to buy one injector and have it tested. Shouldn't be more than $100 including the injector and the test.

SRT10KILLR, interesting post on PT. Im looking for some quality injectors that I can replace the 26 lb stock ones on my I6 TrailBlazer with so I can run FI. $425 for a set (of 8 Im assuming), that seems pretty reasonable for me and I only need 6 around 44lb ones...

You can buy the 8.1 Marine injectors:

Part Number 17113739 (OE Part # 25176061)
Direct fit for short G.M. LS1 SUV injectors
Static flow @ 37.95lb/hr @ 43.5PSI / 300KPa (4.31 g/s = 398cc/min)
Static flow @ 43.82lb/hr @ 58PSI / 400KPa (4.97 g/s = 460cc/min) *
Dynamic flow (2.0ms/10.0 ms(pulse width / rep rate)) 6.0 lb/hr @ 43.5PSI (0.748 g/s @ 300KPa)
Coil Resistance: High Impedance / High-Z (No ECM driver modifications required)

You can find those on E-bay or any Chevy dealer.

Mine are for a 408 stroker and turbo setup so I went with bigger ones.

Umm, I think 58 but I actually have no idea what pressure the I6 runs as. I do know that its a returnless system, my D4001 table is 1 value...

Ill check out those 8.1 Marine injectors, look pretty promising. I know the Colorado s/c kit has bigger injectors, but they are pricey IIRC.

Checked eBay, 01-04 8.1L V8 Marine Injectors are ~$300 shipped. Thats for 8, I need 6 so I might see what dealer cost is.

FORD Australia did this on the 4.6L V8 out here too, but they don't have a supercharger, so throw that 'excuse' out the window.
It does make you wonder why they (FORD Aus) would offer a high spec motor that must use premium fuel and has no knock sensors, what are we in the 80's again!
Compare that to what the E38 is doing with individual cylinder knock control :music_whistling_1:
Oh, I also forgot, the 3.8L V6 GM had here that could be ordered with a supercharger and they used they old type 8bit PCM's, but still had knock control.

Cheers,
Ross

Old thread, but How do you know which ones are which? The part #s' are the same?
