ROOKIE HERE.....I went to read the ECM on my truck for the first time. It started to read, stopped and said something like Interface not up to date with V2, please update. It would not go any further. My Lap top does not have internet access. Is there any way to update my version (If that's the problem)?

Which version of the EFI-Live software do you have on the laptop?

What boot/flash version is installed on your flashscan? (Think this was under licensing)

It says 7.5 on the CPU and I can only find a firmware 2.04.71, 14 APR 08. on the V2!

I would upgrade the laptop to 7.5.3. You will probably have to download it to the computer you are using now, and put it onto a CD for the laptop.

Welcome to the forums.
BTW, are you from http://www.raceprovenmotors.com/ ?

Also what model truck are you trying to read from?

But, if you start either the scantool or tunetool, and do Help->About, you will see it says V7.5.3.

Just checked my Lap top and it already says 7.5.3, Now what?
The exact message on the Laptop is " Flashscan V2 interface is not compatible with this version of EFI software Please upgrade EFI software on PC with latest version" ????? The only thing I had to do differently on install, was I had to install the USB Driver the long way due to WIn98.

Please run the Scan Tool software, and if/when that message appears, please save the error report that is displayed or if no error report is displayed, please manually generate one using the menu option: File->Generate error report. Save the report and email it to me at paul@efilive.com. Please include a link to this thread in your email.

I was finally able to do a "dead Poll" and got this info. Firmware 2.04.70, Boot Block 2.04.10, When I click (about) it say's V2.04.04 build (35). Does anything here look wrong? i'll get an error report # to you, it has not given me one yet. I just get the blue box with the above message. and then when I click OK, I get another box that says "Lost connection".

After you close the dialog box that says: "Lost connection", please manually generate an error report using the menu option: File->Generate error report.
Then send it to me at paul@efilive.com

Upgrade to this release:
http://forum.efilive.com/showthread.php?t=8289

You should upgrade your V2 firmware from V2.04.70 to V2.04.72 using the FlashScan Firmware programming software), then perform the boot block upgrade process (to V2.05.08) from the menu on your FlashScan device.

Then program in the latest V2.05.17(0612) firmware using the V8.1 EFILive_Explorer program.

More details in the Readme.rtf file that is part of the V8.1 install.
